From 1977 to 199 1, martin jacques was the editor of Marxism Today, a magazine published by communist party for Great Britain (CPGB).

Martin jacques is proficient in Chinese and western cultures. He has taught at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, Renmin University of China and National University of Singapore, and founded D em os, a British think tank, with rich experience in journalism. He was a columnist for The Times, The Sunday Times, The Guardian and The New Politician, and the deputy editor-in-chief of The Independent, and wrote and hosted many TV programs for the BBC.
