Biography of Guan Linzheng
On April 7, 1905, Guan Linzheng was born in an ordinary farmer's family in Zhenhuaqian Village, Huxian County, Shaanxi Province. His father was Guan Shuming, his mother was Yang, his stepmother was Jia, and he had six siblings. Guan's family has been farming for generations, and their family fortune is moderate. Guan Zhidao studied in a private school in his village when he was a child. When he was nine years old, he transferred to the elementary school in a neighboring village. Because Guan's father had high expectations for him, he was soon sent to Huxian Higher Elementary School to study. He got the first place in the graduation examination. However, because he loved to fight against injustice, he often got into fights. When he was demoted to second place and entered the Shaanxi Provincial No. 3 Middle School, the principal said to people: "This kid will be Yang Liulang if he succeeds in the future; if he doesn't succeed, he will sell sesame candy." At that time, the teacher asked him about his ambition. A company of soldiers was stationed, and the company commander was very impressive, so he replied: "I hope to be a company commander in the future."
After graduating from elementary school at the age of 15, Guan Linzheng came to the provincial capital Xi'an and was admitted to the provincial capital. Three middle schools. At that time, Liu Zhenhua, the Zhensong Army, held a martial arts lecture hall in Xi'an. Every time he passed by the entrance of the martial arts lecture hall, he saw the word "Struggle" written on the wall of the martial arts lecture hall, and he felt very envious. But he is a poor student with no background and cannot get in. He can only look at the hall and sigh. Later, due to repeated changes in his family, he was heavily in debt and dropped out of school. He decided to abandon literature and martial arts and join the army. He also hoped to make money to help his family pay off their debts.
At this time, two students from the Provincial No. 3 Middle School also wanted to become soldiers. They managed to get a letter of introduction from a battalion commander who went to Yaoxian County to join the Song Army in the town, so they invited Guan Linzheng to go with them. . When they arrived in Yaoxian County, they handed in a letter of introduction to the garrison battalion headquarters and waited for a week without even seeing the shadow of the battalion commander. It turns out that they don't know the ropes, they don't give gifts, and they can't solve the problem with just a piece of paper. The three of them had no choice but to come here in good spirits and return in despair, returning to Xi'an.
In early 1924, one of Guan Linzheng’s friends, Deng Yumei, quietly told him that Mr. Sun Yat-sen had opened a military academy in Guangzhou and recruited students secretly. They got a passport signed by Deng Yumei and Wu Linzheng signed by Hu Jingyi. Wu thought Guangdong was too far away and didn't want to go. He asked Guan Linzheng if he wanted to go to Guangzhou to apply for the military academy. If he wanted to go, he just had to change Wu on the passport to Guan. He was overjoyed by the news and agreed immediately. He went home to report the situation, took 25 silver coins from his father's livestock sales as travel expenses, and changed "Wu Linzheng" on his passport to "Guan Linzheng". From then on, Guan Zhidao changed his name to Guan Linzheng. In this way, he successfully entered the first phase of Whampoa Military Academy. They walked from Xi'an to Lingbao, Henan, then took a train to Shanghai, where they found Yu Youren, a veteran of the Tongmenghui and a fellow Shaanxi fellow. Yu asked them: "Why do you want to be soldiers?" At that time, he did not understand what "ism" and "revolution" were at all, so he had to answer honestly: "Being an officer is majestic." Yu Youren was amused by Guan Linzheng's simple and honest answer. , briefly explained to them Sun Yat-sen's principles of organizing a revolutionary team to oppose the Beiyang warlords and carry out the national revolution. Soon, 11 of them (including Du Yuming and Zhang Yaoming) obtained a secret letter of introduction from Yu Youren and took a boat south to Guangzhou.
After arriving in Yangcheng in April 1924, he went to Huangpu Island and entered the *** Army Officer School (Huangpu Military Academy) as the first batch of cadets. He was organized into the third team and participated in the Chinese Army *.
The first batch of new students began to enlist in the army on May 5, and the opening ceremony was held on June 16. Guan Linzheng and the new students listened to Dr. Sun Yat-sen's speech. Sun Yat-sen encouraged the students not only to be highly talented soldiers, but also to be soldiers who are not afraid of hardship and death. His words had an important impact on Guan Linzheng's subsequent military career. In terms of military education courses, he studied the four major courses of Dian, Fan, and Linghe, and engaged in military drills and actual combat exercises, which laid an initial foundation for future battlefield campaigns. Eastern Expedition and Northern Expedition
After graduating from Huangpu Military Academy, Guan Linzheng participated in the Huangpu Student Army's Eastern Expedition to defeat the warlord Chen Jiongming who was entrenched in Dongjiang. At that time, the student army's Eastern Expedition team consisted of two regiments. He was assigned to teach the second platoon of the first regiment, second battalion, fifth company, and second lieutenant platoon at the military school where He Yingqin was the commander. The commander of the second battalion was Liu Zhi.
The Eastern Expedition began in February 1925, which was the period of the first Kuomintang cooperation. Zhou Enlai, director of the Political Department of the Military Academy, was responsible for the political and ideological work of the student army, encouraging the student army to fight the enemy bravely. The first battle of Guan Linzheng's military career was to attack Tamsui. Tamsui was an important town entering the Dongjiang area. Chen Jiongming sent a brigade of troops to defend the city walls and fortifications to prevent the Eastern Expedition Army from advancing. At dawn on February 15, the First Teaching Regiment launched an attack. As a loud charge horn sounded, Guan Linzheng led the entire platoon of soldiers following the death squads and climbed up the city wall using bamboo ladders and opened the city gate. In less than half an hour, the entire second battalion rushed into the city. The fledgling Guan Linzheng won his first battle in this way.
Then Chen Jiongming sent Hong Zhaolin to counterattack Tamsui. The second battalion was ordered to go out of the city to meet the enemy. Guan Linzheng was appointed as the leading soldier. He encountered the enemy at Baimanghua outside Tamsui City and occupied a hilltop after a fierce battle. During the fierce battle, his left kneecap was injured.
