How to apply
In order to ensure your successful application for admission, Singapore provides you with detailed guidelines for various schools, and the following are the detailed steps for enrollment.
Government schools, government-assisted schools and autonomous schools
All the above schools accept international students, but whether international students can enroll depends on whether there are foreign students in the school.
submit your application form and relevant documents to the school you are enrolled in.
if the school has a quota for foreign students, you must pass the school entrance examination before you can enter the school.
if you pass the school entrance examination, the school will send you a notice.
the notice is valid for two weeks. During this period, you must apply for your student permit from ICA Department of Immigration and Registration Bureau of Singapore. After the student permit is approved, please inform your school.
When you successfully enter the school you enrolled in, the Ministry of Education will send a donation notice letter to your parents or guardians, asking you to donate S $1,. This donation is paid every two years until you graduate.
If your parents work in Singapore, but you don't have a family permit, you must apply for a student permit from ICA department of Immigration and Registration Bureau before the entrance examination.
If you want to enroll in the top 3 primary and secondary schools in Singapore, or the top five junior colleges, foreign students must first pass the Centralise Qualifying Test(CQT), which is an exam organized by the Ministry of Education. Students who have successfully passed the examination have all received a qualified notice, which they can use to register in government schools and junior colleges. After registering at the school, the students concerned must pass the entrance examination of the school before entering the school.
In addition, international students can take the qualification examination to apply to more than 8 public schools. The government school entrance examination organized by the Singapore Institute of Principals (PAI) aims to facilitate foreign students to apply for local schools and solve the problem that they have to take different entrance examinations for different schools many times. However, PAI can't arrange schools for students. Students must submit their applications directly to the school.
