How to write a witness statement

Witnesses generally appear in court to testify and accept cross-examination and court questioning. Written testimony may only be provided in exceptional circumstances. Witnesses must truthfully state the facts they know and should not testify about what they think or speculate as facts. Witnesses who make false statements will be held legally responsible. Witnesses and their close relatives are not allowed to retaliate for testifying. If there is retaliation, the court will protect them.
