Process: donation consultation, donation registration, donation confirmation, organ procurement, organ distribution, body disposal, memorialization and hardship relief.
The purpose of donated organs strictly follows the wishes of the donor and is used for humanitarian treatment of patients. No other profit-making use is allowed. The specific donation process is:
1. Donation consultation: Donors should first understand the relevant conditions of organ donation.
2. Donation registration: Human organ donation refers to voluntary organ donation to the public after their death, and does not involve living organ donation. Donation volunteers bring their ID cards to the Ningxia Red Cross Society or the Ningxia Medical University General Hospital Human Tissue and Organ Bank. The organ donation coordinator will guide them to fill out the organ donation voluntary form and designate the donation executor. All organ donors must meet three conditions: voluntary, free of charge, and death.
3. Confirm donation:
(1) Fill in the "Human Organ Donation Registration Form". The donor himself or his immediate family member must fill in the "Human Organ Donation Registration Form". Underage donors must obtain the consent of their parents to donate organs and fill out the "Human Organ Donation Registration Form" on their behalf. The "Human Organ Donation Registration Form" requires the consent and signature of the volunteer's immediate family members (parents, spouse, adult children, guardians). If there is no registration, after death, the spouse, adult children and parents can also donate organs in writing. After the "Human Organ Donation Registration Form" is completed, the donor himself or someone else entrusts it to the Organ Donation Coordinator of the Medical Department of Ningxia Medical University General Hospital, and the original ID card of the donor must be notarized by the notary office. The "Human Organ Donation Registration Form" must be made in duplicate and stamped by the Red Cross Society and Ningxia Medical University General Hospital after review. One copy shall be kept on file and the other shall be given to the person or the client for safekeeping.
(2) Fill out the "Informed Consent Form" and the donor signs the informed consent form. The staff should explain to the donor the purpose, storage method, and possible social and ethical issues of cells, tissues, and organs. . The acquisition of cells, tissues and organs must follow the principle of voluntary and informed consent. The informed consent of the donor must be obtained for the acquisition and use of cells, tissues and organs. If the donor is under 18 years old or has no ability to identify, his or her legal guardian, spouse or family member shall provide consent on his or her behalf. For potential cadaver donors who did not sign informed consent or willingness to donate during their lifetime, the deceased’s family or guardian is required to sign their consent. At the same time, the donor or his legal guardian, spouse or family members are informed that the privacy of the donor information is protected and will not be disclosed without the consent of the donor or his legal guardian, spouse or family members. In addition to signing an informed consent form, it should also comply with relevant requirements of medical ethics. In addition, donors who meet the screening conditions should be informed to promptly notify the registration department when their contact number or address changes.
(3) Fill in the "Questionnaire". After all donors sign the informed consent form, they are required to fill in a questionnaire, undergo a physical examination and conduct a past history investigation. All cells, tissues and organs must have complete clinical data for retrieval. The questionnaire mainly includes the following content: name, gender, age, ethnicity, current residential address, mailing address, contact information, ID number, family genetic history, etc. Fill in the information item by item, with clear handwriting, and the filled-in content should be true and accurate.
