To learn to be without me, being without me is actually empty. What is "no self"? It's just that everything is empty. If you treat everything in this world as empty, you won't be angry or sad. There is one thing that makes you unhappy. After a while, it disappeared and it became empty. Someone said a word, you are unhappy, and after a while this sentence will be gone, because without me, the law is empty. What remains in your heart, then you can't be empty, that is, you can't let your nature be empty. Today, I will tell you that the kindness, sadness, joy and dedication of the Bodhisattva come from the nature of the Buddha, not just the cultivation of blessings. After I do merit today, the purpose of Bodhisattva is not to let each of us live a better life on earth, but to cultivate happiness. In fact, the kindness and sadness of the bodhisattva, as well as the joy and wish, are the nature of the Buddha. It's not that what I ask and do on earth today is for my future happiness, good children, good job, good family, or money. You have to make this clear.
Many people cultivate their minds until later, because people who cultivate happiness are not easy to persist. Many people study Buddhism, and when their families are well, they stop chanting, worshiping Buddha and practicing. What is the significance of cultivating happiness? In modern terms, it means getting immediate interests and vested interests, and merit in Buddhism is an eternal wisdom. On the earth, people who cultivate blessings have just cultivated a little happiness, and then troubles come again, so people who cultivate blessings will soon have troubles. Today, you suddenly started a company, made some money, and then the trouble came again. Because you have to continue to do more things, and the money is gone. And those who cultivate their minds and accumulate virtue are those who get rid of their roots forever.
Bodhisattva said that troubles are Dojo. All your troubles have come, it is a kind of Dojo, knowing the truth. What does this mean? The real reason for knowing this is what we call knowing this thing. Why does it actually exist? Because you want to turn your troubles into bodhi and wisdom, you must know that your troubles will continue.
So what's the trouble? Master asked you, can you see a person's troubles? Worry is empty, today's worry will be gone tomorrow, and when a person is worried, no one can see or touch it. Trouble itself is empty, do you understand? Trouble itself is asexual, that is, it has no nature, so trouble sometimes comes from imagination. For a simple example, my husband came home a little late today, and my wife immediately thought and thought there, and then trouble came. This is an illusion, so Bodhi itself is asexual, and wisdom itself is invisible and intangible. It has no nature.
Why do Buddhists say that troubles are Dojo and ignorance comes from old age? Master told everyone that trouble is the Dojo. What does this mean? In other words, when troubles come, the Buddha nature in your heart begins to resist your troubles. Ignorance comes from old age When you don't understand why these difficulties and troubles in the world will come to you, you are actually aging and waiting for death. What do you mean? When you don't know the true meaning of life, you will feel that life passes quickly. When you understand that everything in the world is illusory, your life will be more practical. Therefore, people who don't understand will soon die and spend their lives in clouds and fog. Master asks you, if you are still alive after 30, 40 and 50 years, aren't you in a daze? This is called ignorance and dying of old age.
There is no reason, that is, nothing can really make you do it, because you have no wisdom. So, you mean, it's not completely destroyed? Even if you don't destroy everything in your heart, you can't destroy this ignorance. In other words, when you don't know anything, old age will always follow you, which is called "no old age".
Master told everyone that there is no trouble to break, because you don't have to be upset. What troubles are you breaking? The problem is that you have to get this problem, and you have to get rid of it. Because you are insatiable about this human thing, you will get into trouble if you want it.
What is the profound jurisprudence of Mahayana Bodhisattva? Just to tell you, people, troubles and Dojo are all empty, and they are all things that don't really exist. What Dojo is this? That is, all living beings have to rely on themselves to get rid of their troubles. This is a saying of China people: You need to tie the bell to solve the bell. Because all sentient beings have karma, all sentient beings must have troubles. Master asked you, do you have any karma? Do people without karma have troubles? When karma comes, troubles begin to arise. Because there is trouble, there will be pollution; Because of pollution, it is called sentient beings. Therefore, your heart will always be unclean, you will always doubt others and yourself, and it is difficult to get rid of your troubles.
Because this dharma space is born of karma, you become a monk today, and you are also karma, so dharma space is actually no life and no death. What is immortality? I just didn't. Think small. What do I have? You were born with nothing, you came to Australia with nothing, and now you don't want me. Therefore, if all beings are regarded as their own Dojo, trouble is the Dojo. After the troubles, wisdom will come into being and become Bodhi.
In the process of practice, we should constantly observe and adjust. What are "empty" and "Wukong"? "Empty" is already there. "Tiwukong" means that you realize that this thing is not there. What's the difference? Master tells you. It's simple. Empty talk first. You figured something out, so it's empty. Then this thing should be meaningful, but you didn't. You suddenly figured it out and realized, "Oh, this thing is like this", so it's called Wukong. Then after Wukong, there is no illusion. The emptiness you experience is essentially the same as the emptiness you already have, except that one is the emptiness before you unconsciously, and the other is the Wukong after you unconsciously.
To give a simple example, when the child is very young, the mother is very beautiful. When the child grows up, he thinks his mother is so beautiful. This is Wukong, born, not because you grew up. Many mothers are not good-looking, but children think their mothers are the best. What concept? No concept. Illusion is a transformation of nature in your heart. If you feel ugly, you will be ugly, and if you feel good, you will look good. Some people have dogs. He thinks dogs are more beautiful than people. This is a change in his mind. So you need to observe and carefully realize whether what you are doing is incorrect or correct.
It's hard for a person to get the scriptures back without much difficulty. You can't get a lot of understanding without going through a lot of hardships. Bodhisattva's trip is to measure herself. People who learn from Bodhisattva should help themselves first and then help others.
In practice, if you don't adjust well or overcorrect, you will go astray in learning Buddhism. That's why Master told you that you are biased. Don't go the wrong way. You don't live for others, nor for yourself. You live for an idea. Really, don't kill yourself. Master told you that the difficulty of cultivating the mind is how to keep the mind from deviating and overcorrecting. Overcorrection is to make this thing clear. I have gone too far. Isn't master teaching you to practice the mind and recite the scriptures now? Many people say that I don't even want my home, so I'm overqualified. Learning from Buddhism and cultivating the mind does not mean that you don't want a home. Some people are eccentric, chanting sutras crazily, and have sores on their noses and mouths. Then you just haven't adjusted the relationship between spiritual cultivation, physiology and life.
-Lu Gong: Wukong is really real.
