The Key Laboratory of System Control was formally established with the approval of China Academy of Sciences at the end of 1994. Its predecessor was the Control Theory Laboratory of the Institute of Mathematics of China Academy of Sciences, which was established in March 1962. It is the earliest unit in China engaged in the research of modern control theory. Academician Guan, a famous scientist, is the first director of the laboratory, and Academician Song Jian is the deputy director. Over the past 40 years, the laboratory has made remarkable achievements in the application fields of control theory, national defense, engineering and economy, and made important contributions to laying and promoting the modern control theory and application in China, becoming the center of domestic system and control theory research; He has won 3 national natural science awards, the national special prize for scientific and technological progress 1, and more than 20 awards at the academy and ministerial level. The purpose of our laboratory is to give full play to the advantages of interdisciplinary and comprehensive, to carry out research on key scientific problems with universality in system control with the background of practical problems in science, engineering and economic construction, to make international leading or advanced work, to obtain application results for practical projects with great significance, to extensively carry out academic exchanges and cooperation at home and abroad, to cultivate young academic leaders, and to make due contributions to the development and modernization of science in China.

Research interests include stochastic systems, nonlinear systems, distributed parameter systems, discrete event dynamic systems, parameter estimation, adaptive control, robust control, network information theory, complex systems and complexity, quantum control, and advanced control system design methods. In the spirit of pioneering and innovating, keeping pace with the times, many new growing points are constantly emerging.

1. Overview

The Information Security Center was approved by the Institute of Mathematics and Systems Science in March 2002. On June 5, 2002, the Information Security Center held its inaugural meeting in the Institute of Mathematics and Systems Science. Attending the inaugural meeting were the heads of the Basic Bureau and High-tech Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the deputy director of the National Foundation of China, the heads of the Information Department and the Mathematics Department, the leaders of the Institute of Mathematics and Systems Science and the heads of relevant departments, eight academicians of our Institute, and many peer experts from Peking University, Tsinghua University, University of Posts and Telecommunications, State Key Laboratory of Information Security, Science Press and Institute of Software of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
