1. Activity Background

Earth Hour is an initiative proposed by WWF (World Wildlife Fund) to respond to global climate change The initiative asks individuals, communities, businesses and governments to turn off their lights for an hour at a specific time to show their support for action on climate change. In 2009, "Earth Hour" approximately 1 billion people participated in this event in more than 4,000 cities around the world. ?Earth Hour? has entered its second year in our country. We hope that more cities, units and individuals can participate in it and set off a new low-carbon storm.

As a city that is about to usher in the World Expo, Shanghainese people have the spirit of worrying about the world and daring to be the first. As the future pillars of the country, it is not only fashionable but also a responsibility for students to devote themselves to environmental protection. Since its establishment in 2008, Jianping Experimental Primary School has formulated long-term education ideas for students to conserve resources and protect the environment. This event will provide a better platform for teachers and students to participate in the Earth Hour event

2. Overview of the event

March 27, 201X, 20:30, Earth Hour One hour? campaign will be held globally.

Join us in turning off the lights and calling for urgent action on climate change around the world. Earth Hour 201X will call on everyone to take responsibility and play their part in ensuring a sustainable future.

The goal of Earth Hour in 201X: More than 6,000 cities around the world, more than 1 billion people participate in the event, governments, enterprises, and communities actively join in, making "Earth Hour" the largest environmental protection action in the world .

In China, we are working with our partner *** to promote at least 30 cities across the country to participate in the lights-out event at 20:30 on March 27.

Addressing climate change requires strong will and collaboration from the global public. The Chinese government has made a commitment to reduce carbon emissions by 40-45% by 2020 based on 2005 levels. Therefore, Earth Hour 201X also conveys the Chinese public’s support for China to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and transform into a low-carbon economy. We will launch Earth Hour Low Carbon Life Week from March 22 to March 26 (Monday to Friday) to lead teachers and students to make real low-carbon changes in their daily lives.
