Qinghai Lake is located in Qinghai Province. Qinghai Lake is located in the northeastern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and within Qinghai Province. It is the largest saltwater lake in inland China and an important water system for maintaining the local ecological balance. Qinghai Lake is formed by the subsidence of the crustal fault between Datong Mountain, Riyue Mountain and Nanshan Mountain, and it is growing year by year. Qinghai Lake is 105 kilometers long and 63 kilometers wide. The altitude of the lake is 3196 meters. The shape of the lake is long from east to west, narrow from north to south, and has an oval shape. The average depth of the lake is about 21 meters, and the deepest can reach 32.8 meters. Qinghai Lake's water supply sources are river water, spring water, and precipitation. However, the summer is relatively short, the winter is relatively long, and strong winds and sandstorms are prone to occur in spring. Many types of birds inhabit Qinghai Lake, such as magpie ducks, bar-headed geese, brown-headed gulls, cormorants, etc.
