Disposable tableware will no longer be used at the 2010 Shanghai World Expo Instead of using traditional plastic, it is made of biomass material "corn plastic", which does not cause any pollution to the environment. Ren Jie explained that this brand-new biomass material is called "polylactic acid", which is a "green oil" prepared from corn and other crops through biological fermentation technology. This material can be recycled, following a circular chain from crops to lactic acid, to polylactic acid, to polylactic acid products, and then to natural degradation, without any burden on the environment. It can be widely used in fields such as agricultural mulch film, fiber textiles, disposable products, packaging materials, engineering plastics, and even modern medical materials.
