Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis is one of the best big men in the NBA today. The 26-year-old has accomplished a lot in his seven seasons in the league, making six All-Star teams and being a member of the NBA's All-Defensive team three times.
It’s rather confusing, though, that a star of his caliber still doesn’t have his own signature laces. Matt Powell, senior sports industry advisor at The NPD Group, noted in an article by Brett Dawson of The Athletic that the reason Davis doesn't have his own shoes is because he Think that they lack market competitiveness.
"Every 12-year-old kid thinks he can be Steph Curry," Powell said. Not many 12-year-olds think they can be Anthony Davis. Big guys tend not to sell a lot of shoes. It's just a truth in the industry
Powell said, "You look at a guy like Curry, who has a quick smile, a boyish face, and an assassin's shot, and he's getting paid for it all." . LeBron is the face of the Nike brand. Harden has his own style and personality. Davis is a terrific athlete on the court, but I don't think he's a particularly marketable guy
Meanwhile, Davis signed with Nike before the 2017-18 NBA season A multi-year shoe extension.
