Beichen Mountain, commonly known as Beishan Rock, is located in the northeast corner of Tongan District, Xiamen City, in Wuxian Town, Tongan District, Xiamen City, with an area of 12.2 square kilometers, which is 12 kilometers away from Tongan City and 45 kilometers away from Xiamen City. The scenic spot has developed and built an area of 4.5 square kilometers. Characterized by low hills and granite landforms, Zhuba Reservoir in the lower reaches has a wide water surface and a tortuous coastline. Guangli Temple is an ancient temple located at the foot of the mountain, and it is the "bamboo forest" palace of governors. The mutiny of Fujian Brother Wang took place here. Celebrities of past dynasties left many poems about Mo Bao in scenic spots, such as Zhu Jiao's Fairy Bay in Song Dynasty.
Beishanyan has a long history and outstanding people. Tongan calendar says "Beishan comes first, Tongan comes last". Wang Gong Temple in Beishan, also known as Guangli Temple, or "Zhonghui Wang Zun Temple", was the beginning of the rebellion of Wang Brothers in the Five Dynasties. At that time, it was a bamboo forest, which was under the jurisdiction of Nan 'an County. At the end of the Tang Dynasty, Wang Shen was like "the bamboo forest in the north mountain worships the sword, and the sword actually worships three times." The rebel army wants to be king, and the king respects his brother, five generations and ten countries. After Wang was named "King of Fujian" by Zhu Wen at the end of Liang Dynasty, he was honored as "the first person to open Fujian" and was later called "King of Fujian". Song Taizu presented "Eight Min Taizu" plaque. In order to commemorate the king, people specially built the "Zhonghui Temple" and the "Tomb of the King of Min".
February 12 of the lunar calendar is the day when the king of Fujian becomes immortal. Five days before and after, the Beichenshan Temple Fair was unprecedented, with constant incense and a sea of people. Nanqu and Gaojia Opera sang all night; "Song Jiangzhen" shows its talents; Pilgrims from all directions burned incense to pay homage to King Kaimin. Every year, the eighth day of the eighth lunar month is the legendary day when the Eight Immortals gain enlightenment and become immortals and cross the sea. From the evening of the seventh day of August, pilgrims from the surrounding areas gathered in the Fairy Palace to congratulate the Eight Immortals on crossing the sea and pray for their well-being. That night, I stayed on the mountain to interpret my dreams and asked about my future destiny. It didn't disperse until the next morning. This night, the mountains are full of lights, people come and go, and it is very lively, which has become a beautiful landscape at night in Beichen Mountain.
Today, Beichen Mountain is one of the 20 famous scenic spots in Xiamen, a provincial-level scenic spot and a national 4A-level tourist attraction. It has beautiful natural scenery, a long human history and countless myths and legends. It is a tourist attraction integrating ecological sightseeing, folk customs, religious pilgrimage and barbecue.
