Lin Qingze-xu mentioned in his book "All Generals Selling Smoke" that "there are three names of cigarettes, namely, Gongban, Baitu and Jinhua". Sha Ting mentioned in Ding Lame Gong that "in this strange province for more than ten years, he only sold opium twice".
The destruction of opium in Humen (June 1839) refers to a historical event in which the Qing government of China appointed an imperial envoy Lin Zexu to destroy opium in Humen, Guangdong. This incident later became the fuse of the First Opium War, and treaty of nanking was also signed by the Qing government in that war.
The destruction of opium in Humen has become a historic event in the anti-drug struggle. The League of Nations designated June 3rd, which began with the destruction of opium in Humen, as "International No Tobacco Day". 1987 June 12-26, the United Nations held a ministerial conference on drug abuse and illegal trafficking in Vienna, attended by more than 3,000 representatives from 138 countries. The meeting put forward the slogan "Love life, don't take drugs". The delegates unanimously agreed to designate June 26th, the day after the completion of opium destruction in Humen, as the "International Anti-Drug Day".
