Meiji Restoration was a political revolution in Japanese history. The Meiji government first adopted the measures of "returning official titles" and "abolishing vassals and establishing counties", which ended the long-term feudal separatist situation in Japan and laid the foundation for establishing a centralized country and developing the capitalist economy. The positive results of Meiji Restoration are as follows: (1) It has realized the replacement of social forms, made Japanese society transition from backward feudal historical development stage to capitalist stage, and on this basis, made Japan develop into an advanced capitalist country in only half a century; (2) It has created conditions for Japan to get rid of the crisis of becoming a semi-colony, making Japan the only country in Asia that can continue to maintain its national independence. However, the Meiji Restoration also had its negative side. First of all, Japan has undergone profound social changes, but it still retains a lot of feudal remnants in politics, economy and ideology, such as emperor system and semi-feudal landlord land ownership. Therefore, as a bourgeois revolution, it is incomplete. Secondly, it is precisely because of the above reasons that although Japan successfully got rid of the crisis of becoming a semi-colony through the Meiji Restoration, it soon embarked on the road of aggression and oppression of other nationalities and became a new imperialist country.
