What is Luojia culture?
Feelings about Luo Jia

king

Time flies when the dead are like this. It has been 24 years since I left my alma mater, Wuhan University, and Luojiashan.

The alma mater is a wonderful memory. Unforgettable is not only the green shade of Jiahui Mountain, the clear and bright East Lake, but also the brilliant cherry blossoms in the old hut in spring, the fragrant cinnamon in summer and the wintersweet blooming early in winter. Of course, Luo Jia's beauty and charm can be said to be unique among many university campuses. Someone once said that Mount Luojia in Wuda is exquisite and outstanding, which is a kind of beauty of "natural carving, clear water produces hibiscus". But as a century-old prestigious school, her long history, rich cultural connotation, her fame and influence are enough to make every student proud. Perhaps, the cry of the May 4th students in the Red Chamber of Peking University and the academic weight of Tsinghua and Shui Mu represent the model of a generation of famous schools in China, while Luojia is located in the Central Plains, where the north and the south meet, and Jingchu culture has a long history and is somewhat elegant in beauty. The famous "Liu Yiting" on campus is the "first scene" to enter Luojia. On the eve of dawn, passionate students sacrificed their studies and wrote an epic. * * * politicians of the production party and the Kuomintang have also left footprints here. The tranquil Luojia Mountain, with beautiful scenery and rich cultural background, contains many touching stories.

Wherever people go, hometown and alma mater are an eternal knot.

It is not easy to recall the past three years. We entered Wuhan University as "students of workers, peasants and soldiers" in the middle of the Cultural Revolution. According to what was said at that time, we shouldered the heavy responsibility of "management and reform". Therefore, for us "students" from the society and the grassroots, learning is not the first thing. Perhaps the name "student" has standardized her connotation in advance-movement, revolution and "management reform" At that time, the "Cultural Revolution" was thunderous and thunderous. With the power of the "Cultural Revolution", our "revolution" was in full swing, criticizing the resurgence of the education front, "criticizing the forest and criticizing the hole reform", and the revolution was never tired. There was really no room for a quiet desk in the huge campus. I remember that at that time, there was a wall newspaper on the gable of our Chinese department dormitory, with students' creations on it, mostly slogans and slogans in line with the situation. 1973 in the second half of the year, when the slogan of "reforming the upper management" was shouted out vigorously, it became a fierce battlefield for the student revolution. Sven's campus is a little tense because of the signatures of Bing Yi and Ge Bing, a large number of so-called education black lines, or some fashionable "left" views sold from other schools. In the past three years, we have experienced large and small movements of criticizing Right, Lin, Confucius and Confucianism, which are timely reflected in this small wall newspaper. God knows, most of us are junior high school students, and our cultural knowledge is anaemic. It is foolish and reckless to challenge this holy land of knowledge and civilization only by revolutionary courage.

Ironically, the object of our revolution is sometimes our class teacher. Once an old teacher mentioned an ancient poem in class and expressed different views on some authoritative explanations. Some students wrote big-character posters, thinking that this is the resurgence of the right wing and the vicious black line of education. Fortunately, teachers are not used to it, but privately we are very sorry that we wasted our time on a meaningless "revolution".

Recalling Luo Jia, the eternal warmth is our friendship with our beloved teachers and their selfless teaching and persuasion. Even if we are naive and reckless, we are careless, and we are rude and ignorant of culture, teachers, especially old professors, are so ignorant and tireless in teaching. Perhaps, they know that all our young people who come from the grass-roots level and have not studied for a few days, all our contempt and contempt for culture stems from our own ignorance; Perhaps, teachers' leniency stems from their nature and conscience of solving problems and teaching people. I remember once, Professor Zhou Lao, who was very old, told us about the works of contemporary poets and criticized the poems of a contemporary social celebrity. However, we are not calm enough to think that this is a disrespect for an official. Some students even accused the old gentleman of being narrow-minded and ignoring scholars, leaving him speechless. This ignorant and fearless childish and ridiculous behavior, now I think it's as ridiculous as a summer bug. Now that the old professor is dead, as a student, he has never had a chance to express this guilt. Writing these words is an apology for being late.

When we walked into Luojia, we realized that as a century-old famous school, there are many famous teachers and scholars here. In the 1950s, there were only three famous professors in the Chinese Department, while the old professors at that time were Li, Zhou Dapu, Cheng and Bi Huan who wore various hats. Most of the teachers who taught us at that time were young and middle-aged teachers, including Zhan Bohui, Wu, Sun Jiafu, Lu Yaodong, Sun Dangbo, Cai Shouxiang, Su Zhecong, Xiao Zuoming, He Chongxian and so on. I'm afraid I won't list them here. Some of them left the factory with us and went to the countryside to "run schools", which increased the friendship between teachers and students and taught us how to study. Some old gentlemen are good at poetry, outstanding in calligraphy, or rigorous and meticulous in logical thinking, each with his own merits, which makes us young students admire. Some of us are persistent, love literature, specialize in academics and benefit from teachers' guidance. I remember that when the reference room of our department was in the "Workers and Peasants Building", whenever we looked up information, we would meet an old man respectfully looking for information for us, with an affable attitude. Later, we learned that he was the learned Mr. Bi Huanwu. At that time, several teachers in the Chinese Department were treated unfairly. However, for us students, the old gentlemen gave advice without hesitation. After graduation, they also received many teachers' books. Although there are many books on their desks for work reasons, the teachers of their alma mater dare not ignore these gifts. Reading these painstaking works often makes people excited. I know it is the complex of their alma mater, and it is an unforgettable past.

At that time, the teacher who got along with us the most was Mr. Sun Jiafu, the grade head teacher. His relationship with his students is almost like a brother. Although Mr. Sun is not much older than our older classmates, in the eyes of our classmates in the whole grade, he is a dignified elder and the head teacher of our study and life. It's hard to see his smile at ordinary times. He handles things in an orderly way. He always said to be worthy of your honor, because in his eyes, it is really not easy for us students with poor cultural background to be competent for several years of college life. Although Mr. Sun is unsmiling, he is cheerful, outspoken, hating evil and daring to stick to his own opinions. We older students from society are used to holding pliers, carrying guns and dancing hoes in workshops, fields and military camps, and are used to hard work. However, sitting in the classroom at once, reading ancient books and writing papers, naturally, we are not used to it. Teacher Sun often severely criticizes us and gives us enough understanding. Under his specific guidance, we have made remarkable progress in our study. By the time we graduated, some students had published many works. Teacher Sun teaches writing and contemporary literature. In my impression, he is very familiar with the works of contemporary writers. He cares about his classmates and knows the situation of each student very well. In his study, he hopes that everyone will write more and read more original works. Later, I fell in love with literary studies, which was also related to Teacher Sun's early enlightenment. A few years ago, I went back to my alma mater to see Mr. Sun and learned that he had a serious heart disease and had retired at home.

Some time ago, several of our classmates got together in Beijing to talk about Wu Da and Luo Jiashan, and the teachers who lived together day and night. It's like going back more than 20 years. Although we didn't learn much in that special year, it was the most precious and cherished page in our life after all. The young man's years of high spirits and rhetoric are both bitter and warm. In our memory, today we are well-developed and grumpy, but our feelings for our alma mater remain the same. Remembering Luo Jia means looking back and paying attention to a special time in life.
