Maoming is a prefecture-level city in Guangdong Province, located in the south China sea coast of China, in the southwest of Guangdong Province, and backed by the southwest of China. It governs Maonan District and Dianbai District, and Gaozhou City, Huazhou City and Xinyi City. There are three economic functional zones: Maoming Binhai New Area, Maoming High-tech Zone and Maoming Shuidongwan New City.

Maoming is located at the intersection of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Beibu Gulf Urban Agglomeration and Hainan Free Trade Zone. Maoming is an important petrochemical and energy base in China.

It has formed "six leading industries" such as petrochemical industry, agricultural and sideline products, mineral resources, light industry textiles, medicine and health, metal processing and advanced equipment manufacturing. Maoming county economy has developed steadily, ranking in the forefront of Guangdong, East and West. Rich in products, it is the prefecture-level city with the highest agricultural output value in Guangdong Province.

Geographical environment of Maoming city

Maoming City faces the sea with the back of the mountain, and the terrain is high in the north and low in the south, which inclines from northeast to southwest. The highest elevation is1704m, and the lowest elevation is1.6m. There are three mountains in the north and northeast, which are cloud opening, hook leakage and fog gathering. Rivers in the territory crisscross and cut each other, forming a distinct landform of mountains, hills, terraces and plains.

The mountainous area mainly consists of Yunkaishan from the north, Dayun Mountain from the northeast and Goulou Mountain from the northwest. The border area between the southeast of Xinyi and the northeast of Gaozhou has a mountainous area of more than 500 meters above sea level 1.300 square kilometers, and the elevation of Datiandian, the main peak, is 1.704 meters, making it the second highest peak in Guangdong Province.

Mianbeiding (at the junction of Gaozhou and Xinyi) is at an altitude of1627m, and Ehuangzhang (at the junction of Dianbai and Yangchun) is at an altitude of1337m. This mountain area forms a barrier in the north of the city, blocking the cold air flow in the north in winter and reducing the harm of cold current to the headquarters. In spring and summer, the warm mass from the south rises, which leads to abundant rainfall in the southern mountainous area of our city. There are many rivers and abundant water resources in mountainous areas, which are the main areas for forestry and hydropower development.
