The Westernization School also founded three navies: Beiyang, Nanyang and Fujian. In order to "strive for self-improvement and resist aggression", the Westernization School set out to build a modern navy and coastal defense while establishing a military industry, which was a great progress in China's modern coastal defense and ended the era when China had no coastal defense. The Westernization School has also made great efforts in personnel training and education, sent overseas students for further study, and established modern education in China, such as Shi Jing Wentong Museum. According to statistics, by 1896, there were 34 westernization schools in various places. Most of these schools are specialized practical technical schools with different scales and degrees. The Westernization Movement also promoted the development of China's diplomatic modernization. The establishment of the Prime Minister's Office was the first diplomatic step of China's early modernization. However, it should be pointed out that the westernization school's idea of "using Chinese style and western style" is actually a revolutionary attitude.
