1On June 5th, 972, the United Nations held the first conference on the human environment in Stockholm, Sweden, and adopted the famous Declaration on the Human Environment and the Action Plan for Protecting the Global Environment. In June+10 of the same year, the 27th General Assembly decided to establish the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) according to the recommendation of Stockholm Conference, and designated June 5th of each year as World Environment Day.
