First, learn to cultivate a leader, and it is best to hang a jingle around the neck of a sheep. Every sheep has a leader. The role of this leader is to lead other sheep to find food and prevent the sheep from getting lost. It is also reasonable to feed the leader more concentrated feed and give him a "small stove". It is best to hang a bell around the neck in the case of stocking, so that the sheep can basically be distinguished by the auditory system.
Second, tie a "mix" on the ram's neck or leg to prevent other people's milk sheep from being strung together. People who often graze know that the most difficult way to manage a flock of sheep is to raise a ram. Breeding rams always like to harass other people's milk sheep because of their own nature, and they don't like delicious grass, and they also like to "find friends" everywhere. My common practice is to hang a thick stick in front of the ram's neck or mix a rope with its leg.
Third, make a better whip to drive the sheep, and you can bully the sheep after training. Never underestimate the sheep whip held by the shepherd, which is equivalent to the "military symbol" of the ancient three armies. As soon as the whip comes out, no matter how naughty and disobedient the sheep are, they will honestly obey the distribution of their masters. This is my experience of grazing for many years, and it works very well.
Four, if the scale of farming operation is large, practice a few German shepherds to assist shepherds in grazing. I saw some large-scale grazing in the grassland area, as well as motorcycles that the owners rode, and then I trained some German shepherds to help with grazing. This seems to be a very good method. I just don't know how long and cost it will take to train a German shepherd dog like that.
Sheep are gregarious animals and generally do not run around in groups. But there is one exception, that is, when rams and ewes are mixed, rams will keep chasing ewes suspected of estrus, and rams will also chase each other. As a result, the sheep was lost and never came back. The correct way is to herd the rams and ewes in groups, so that the rams and ewes can breed before the dew is wet in the morning or after the sheep are harvested in the afternoon.
In short, in order to ensure easy grazing, we need to manage methods according to the growth habits of sheep, not rashly according to our own subjective consciousness. Therefore, the management method of sheep must understand sheep in order to get twice the result with half the effort.
