The Arrow Inserting Festival is one of the unique folk activities in Tibetan grasslands, and it is also a religious activity held by monks and nuns. It means to send the weapons used in the war to the gods in the nearest place to pray for peace, so the festival of inserting arrows is held on the highest mountain in each village. Because it is a war-related festival, women are not allowed to participate.
There is no fixed date for this festival, which is decided by the tribe in a religious way. As the day of inserting arrows approaches, people actively prepare arrow shafts, print warp flags, make arrow feathers, stir-fry mulberries (stir-fried highland barley noodles, Ciba, ghee, candy, wine, fresh milk, nest milk and mulberry weeks), pick cypress branches and print Long Da. Make an arrow the day before insertion. Cut the root of the shaft into an arrow shape and tie cypress branches at the top. There are triangular colored arrow feathers under the cypress branches, followed by hada, colored cloth strips, wool and the like. It is shaped like an arrow rafter, and the arrow feathers are painted with patterns such as pearls, white snails and auspicious wheels.
Before simmering mulberry, an arrow platform should be built first. When making the archery platform, first dig a square pit under the archery platform, which is more than one meter deep and bury Dell in it. It means "treasure" (bag mainly made of grain mixed with various drugs and precious metals), and weapons such as knives, guns, bows and arrows are buried at the same time. Then, make a one-meter-high stone platform on it, which is the arrow platform.
On the day of inserting arrows, early in the morning, every household sends mature men (or teenagers if there are no mature men) to ride horses and gather in front of the pile of arrows on the hill. As soon as the people who participated in the arrow insertion arrived, they began to simmer mulberry, which opened the prelude to the whole arrow insertion activity. Read the mulberry clothes at once and shout Lagaro in unison, which means that the gods have won. It is said that the followers of the 33-day Emperor Shi and the non-god Jin Yao fought for the fruit on the Ruyi tree for several years. If they don't succeed, they will be in danger of destroying the world as a universe. The herdsmen shouted this slogan to support the gods. Amid the cheers, firecrackers and horns that resounded through the sky, the ceremony of the Arrow Insertion Festival officially began. Powerful people ride horses, with colorful arrows in their hands, and circle around the pile of arrows from left to right. The arrow feathers are sharpened with cypress branches, tied with feather wings and hair knots, and painted with clouds and other patterns with water, and colored brocade is hung on the arrow. The colorful arrows of the living Buddha, the temple and the toast are tall and majestic, and they are also very beautiful in painting and binding. Other families of farmers and herdsmen make them according to their own economic ability, one for each household. The foundation of the arrow pile is buried with scrolls, scriptures and auspicious offerings such as fruit and milk. Some old arrows from the previous year were cleaned up before the arrow insertion ceremony. On the day of the Arrow Insertion Festival, people insert the arrow feathers into the pile of arrows, and the new pile of arrows holds the old arrows. Standing on the top of the mountain symbolizes the majesty of the god of war and the invincibility of a tribe. After the two longest male arrows (one from the living Buddha and the other from the village) are inserted, they will rush to insert a personal arrow. All the arrows are inserted, and then the pile of arrows is tightly wrapped with slender wool thread. After that, go to the flag planting place far from the arrow insertion place, simmer mulberries, plant flags, and then raise Ronda. It means wind horse, and the four corners are printed with tiger, lion, Peng and dragon respectively. Its meaning is: good luck, prosperous times like flying horses, tigers living in mountains and rivers, mountain lions roaring like thunder, Dapeng spreading its wings thousands of miles, Yulong dominating the sky.
