In 2008, the "Thousand Villages Survey Project" was awarded as the best project award and excellent team of "Going to the Countryside" national college student volunteers' summer social practice activities by Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, the Central Civilization Office, the Ministry of Education, the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League and the National Federation of Students. It was awarded the Best Project Award of Shanghai University Students' Summer Practice Activities in 2008 and the Second Prize of Excellent Achievements in Campus Culture Construction by the Propaganda Department of the Municipal Party Committee, the Municipal Civilization Office, the Municipal Science and Education Party Committee, the Municipal Education Commission, the Communist Youth League Committee and the Municipal Federation of Students.
On February 20, 2009, Liu Yandong, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and State Councilor, gave instructions in the article No.20 bulletin of the Central Policy Research Office, "shanghai finance university students go to thousands of villages to feel the reform and opening up": it is a good form to train talents to organize college students to go deep into practice, observe the national conditions and people's feelings, receive education and increase their talents.
