First, use a computer with good performance as a forwarding server to run VLC media player software. Click File → Open File in the menu bar, select Network, select "HTTP/HTTPS/FTP/MMS" transmission protocol, and fill in the URL box where satellite programs need to be played. For online tutorials, fill in "xxx/video.m3u". But if it is not successful, the correct way is to fill in the detailed website of the satellite program, which is the same as when calling VLC media player software on the webpage, and it must be downloaded before it can be played successfully.

How do I know the detailed website of the satellite program? Take the "Trace TV" music channel we forwarded in 70.5 E as an example. The specific method is as follows:

First, enter the WEB management control interface of the DM500S receiver, select "Trace TV" channel, click "VLC", download it and click Play. At this time, the interface of VLC media player software playing the channel appears. In the menu bar, click [View] → [Streaming Media Information] and select [General].

Copy the URL in the "URI" column (note: "URI" should be "URL", which is incorrectly translated in Chinese), paste it in the box of [File] → [Open File ]→ [Network ]→ [URL], then tick "√" in the box before [Streaming/Protection], and click the "Settings" button.

Enter the [Streaming Output] setting interface.

First, select [Output] mode, where MMSH protocol is selected, and the IP address of the forwarding server "192.168.1.2" is filled in the address bar. Then select [package mode]. Generally, ASF, MP4 and WAV package modes are also acceptable, but the output can only use MMSH protocol. If the HTTP protocol is used for output, there are no pictures when the client plays.

Transcoding through VLC serial stream. In fact, it is the process that VLC media player decodes the TS stream of DM500S, and then the VLC media player repackages it and sends it back to the network. This packaging method can be changed in [Transcoding Options]. In [transcoding options], when selecting the encoding formats of video encoder and audio encoder, it is necessary to consider whether the client has the corresponding decoding package. General video encoder can choose the commonly used WMV 1 and WMV2 formats, and audio encoder can choose MP3 format. The selection of bit rate should consider the network bandwidth and the performance of forwarding server. If conditions permit, choosing a larger code rate is conducive to the improvement of image quality and sound quality. Note that "size" in the video encoder refers to the size of the playing picture; The "channel" in the audio encoder is a Chinese error and should be "channel". "2" is usually selected, indicating two channels.

After the above settings are completed, press "OK" twice to exit the setting interface. At this point, a timer will appear at the bottom of the VLC media player, indicating that the software has started streaming. As for success or failure, we can view it through the menu bar View → Streaming Media and Media Information → Statistics.

In the [Streams] area below, there are various statistics of sent data, indicating that the forwarding function is normal. Note: VLC media player software has no screen display and sound output when forwarding, so the statistics of "display frames" and "play buffer" in its video and audio areas are both "0".

2, the client plays

Because the forwarding server uses MMSH protocol to output, you only need to open the Windows Media Player playback software and enter MMS:/192.168.1.2:1234 or the playback software can watch the program after a moment of connection and buffering. Note: If the forwarding server uses HTTP protocol for output, the client can only enter the address.

3. Precautions for use

The key to adopt this scheme is the setting of forwarding server. If the client can't play it, first check whether the forwarding server has streaming output. If the client only has audio output and no pictures to play, first check whether the selected output protocol is correct, and then check whether the selected video encoder has a corresponding decoding package at the client.

For broadcasting, it is a method of transmitting data to a large number of customers at the same time. When broadcasting, it is realized by using the broadcast publishing point. In the two scenarios we introduced above, the broadcast publishing point is that the client needs to input URL and port number. When using the broadcast scheme, the client receiving the broadcast cannot switch channels, and can only watch the content being broadcast. When the server (DM500S) or forwarding server (desktop) changes machines, the client (laptop) software needs to restart the playback function.
