The lighting ceremony of the Lantern Festival lasts about 40 minutes. The lighting ceremony is based on the theme of "lighting life to see happiness" and the background element of "Shangyuan Lantern Color Map". Historical origin
During the Three Kingdoms Wu Dong period, Nanjing first appeared in festivals, celebrations and other important occasions. If the soldiers in front return home in triumph, officials and people in the ruling and opposition parties will gather inside and outside the capital to create an atmosphere of welcoming them back or rewarding their military advisers with fragrant lanterns and candles. At that time, brocade technology promoted the development of silk weaving industry in the south of the Yangtze River and provided a technical basis for the production of lantern colors.
The history of Qinhuai Lantern Festival can be traced back to Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties. According to documents, as early as the beginning of the Southern Dynasties, the Lantern Festival was held in Nanjing.
During the Southern Dynasties, the custom of Lantern Festival appeared in Jiankang (now Nanjing), which is the earliest record of Lantern Festival in China. "Southern History" describes the grand occasion of the Shangyuan Festival (Lantern Festival) in Jiankang: "If there are 10,000 lanterns, if the Milky Way is full of people, there will be no gaps in the courtyard." Later, in the Tang, Song, Yuan and Ming Dynasties, the Lantern Festival became more and more prosperous, and skilled lantern craftsmen emerged one after another, making lanterns more and more magnificent.
After the Sui Dynasty, although Jinling was left out in the cold, activities such as decorating lanterns and watching lanterns on the Lantern Festival have become a common practice.
