1. Stuttering is a language phobia.
Stuttering is not a functional disease of language organs, but a psychological disease, that is, language phobia. Phobia is a kind of neurosis, which is an unusual, intense fear or nervous inner experience caused by contact with certain objects or people in a special environment. This kind of fear and tension is beyond the patient's control. Some people even have obvious symptoms of autonomic nervous system disorder, such as rapid heartbeat, red or pale face and high blood pressure. In severe cases, pupils will be dilated or narrowed, chest tightness, shortness of breath, dizziness, trembling, nausea, abdominal pain and other symptoms.
There are several common symptoms of phobia: (1) social phobia; (2) environmental phobia; (3) object phobia; (4) Language phobia.
Language phobia, also known as stuttering phobia, refers to an unusual internal experience of fear and tension caused by fear of stuttering when speaking in a certain environment, meeting some people, or talking about a word. In addition to obvious symptoms of autonomic nervous system disorder, stuttering phobia also manifests as shortness of speech, repetition and sudden pause. Some people will have accompanying movements, such as shaking their heads violently, pedaling, scratching with their hands, blinking, flipping their tongues and so on. Some even have facial muscle spasms. Ordinary people complain that stutterers are too flustered when they speak, and stutterers often blame themselves. Don't you know, this neurotic stutterer can't control himself.
Two. psychoanalytic therapy
The founder of psychoanalysis therapy is Freud, which has been modified and supplemented by many western scholars and psychologists and gradually developed into a more mature psychotherapy method. For stuttering phobia, we mainly analyze it from three aspects: psychological state, psychological process and personality characteristics (1). By recalling childhood experiences, stutterers will understand that fear is formed in childhood, and this fear will continue into adulthood and be combined with stuttering. (2) Through observation and practice, let stutterers understand that normal people stutter, and our stuttering is essentially the same as theirs. (3) According to Adler's theory of inferiority complex, the stutterer is a typical overcompensation of inferiority complex, and his personality often shows as follows: a. He is too sensitive to his own shortcomings and tries his best to cover them up; B. exaggerating ideas, that is, exaggerating others' views on their stuttering; C. pursuing perfection.
Through memory therapy, we separate fear from stuttering and isolate fear. Through observation and personality analysis, we can eliminate stuttering from two aspects: cognitive process and personality. Now it's just fear.
Three. Self-hypnosis therapy
The function of self-hypnosis therapy is to eliminate fear. At present, many psychotherapy (including stuttering psychotherapy) adopts slogan-style will-strengthening methods, such as repeatedly suggesting in my mind that "I am a normal person and I will definitely overcome stuttering". Unless you are a person with great perseverance, it is difficult to succeed by this means. Self-hypnosis therapy is a technique to regulate the whole body and mind by hypnotizing the parts of the body that are easy to hint. After self-hypnosis, I feel very comfortable and energetic. Hypnosis can eliminate fear and make people calm. It can not only treat neurosis such as stuttering phobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder and neurasthenia. However, self-hypnosis therapy must be carried out under the guidance of experts.
4. Training of language expression ability
In our daily life, we can often see that some people have a blunt tone of voice, no sense of rhythm and uncoordinated gestures. However, some people speak with clear pronunciation and mellow voice, with high and low notes scattered, strong sense of rhythm, vivid and natural facial expressions and good coordination of gestures. For him, language has become an art. Due to the long-term language barrier, stutterers' language expression ability is generally poor. Doing some training in these aspects can improve our oral expression ability and enhance our confidence in speaking.
Through the above steps, our psychological quality can be improved rapidly and our language expression ability will be enhanced. Then, we will look for breakthroughs, such as chatting, asking for directions, making phone calls, etc. Take the initiative and break through quickly, and you can successfully correct stuttering.
