It is estimated that by 2020, temporary workers (that is, part-time jobs) will become the main form of labor, and the number of workers involved will account for 50% of the total labor force. Another interesting statistic shows that 43% of freelancers are millennials. It is important to understand this, because one-third of the workers in the United States are millennials now.
So why are there such a large group of freelancers? The reason is that the progress of technology makes more work can be done remotely; The digital economy continues to develop; Part-time labor force is increasing; And that increase and decrease of labor force.
More importantly, people have realized that as freelancers, they can earn enough money, enjoy flexible working hours that are more conducive to balancing work and life, and at the same time, it is easy to sell their services to potential customers.
Since most of the working population will become freelancers in the near future, business owners may soon have no other choice when looking for top talents. Those freelancers who have both full-time and part-time jobs should also consider it (that's how I found my current technical business partner, and we are both satisfied).
After the slogan of "mass entrepreneurship and innovation" was put forward, there was a craze for the whole people to be bosses. In this upsurge, many people choose to quit their jobs to work for themselves, but two concepts are confused, that is, freelancer and entrepreneur. From a certain point of view, these two concepts are very similar, but after careful analysis, it is found that there are huge differences between them. Maybe you can change your identity by coincidence, but it can't be compared.
Freelancer: The ideal state is to reduce the opportunities to communicate with others.
Entrepreneur: We must improve our communication skills.
The biggest attraction of being a freelancer is that you don't have to go to the company, just look at poetry and the distance. They usually only need to communicate with one or two people, and then they will bury themselves in their work. You don't need to please someone deliberately, and you don't need to please someone. This is where many people choose freelancers. In China, if we can do this, it is really enviable. After all, who is the overtime dog who is not allowed to bow to the leader?
Entrepreneurs are completely different. He needs to lead a team. Whether this team is a small team of three people or a large team of 100 people, as a leader, you must communicate with all the team members, and there is no bottom line. Because you are not familiar with many businesses, you need the help of these members, such as accountants, lawyers and public relations. Once the communication is not smooth, your assignment will be deviated, which will cause a major crisis in starting a business.
Freelancer: You can arrange your time flexibly.
Entrepreneur: Don't talk about time, it's a luxury.
When accepting a task, freelancers will take the initiative to propose their own time budget to their clients, such as a week or a month. Usually, there is a lot of room at this time. For example, an illustrator can complete an illustration in three days, and he will definitely tell the publishing house that he needs a week, so he can flexibly arrange the remaining four days.
However, as an entrepreneur in China, it obviously takes a week to complete the project. In order to increase their competitive advantage, entrepreneurs must tell their customers, "We can finish it in three days!" Then I started a crazy overtime trip. For entrepreneurs, overtime is like rice, which is absolutely indispensable and a truly valuable holiday. When you are ready to give yourself a holiday, a phone call from a customer can make it disappear. Even in a highly competitive industry, a holiday means death.
Freelancer: Distribution according to work, take whatever you want.
Entrepreneur: You can't refuse any demand from customers.
When a customer proposes that a program needs to be written for one month, as a freelancer, he will carefully examine the customer's needs. If there is a conflict with his "three views", then he will choose to refuse to accept the list with great probability. But entrepreneurs will never think too much when they receive such business, because they consider the question of "willing" rather than "wanting". In this way, freelancers can choose to take orders according to their own time and emotions, while entrepreneurs can only say no to the needs of customers!
Seeing this, you may say, if so, who will start a business? How comfortable freelancers are! But remember, you must be a big coffee maker and engage in creative industries, such as illustration, interior design and handicraft production. In order to reach the level of the above freelancers, and the remuneration is very considerable every time, so they often read poems and travel far. Entrepreneurs pursue a sense of accomplishment, complete various difficult projects again and again, and enhance brand awareness. Once successful and financially free, entrepreneurs will also pursue poetry and distance and find the same point of convergence as freelancers.
