Is becoming a monk the same as practicing at home? As long as you are sincere, can you do it anywhere? Ask the monk to give you some advice.
Among the four disciples of Buddhism, they are monks and Misha who point out the family, monks and nuns, and excellent women who stay at home. In Buddhism, Buddhism is equal, so all four disciples can practice and even become Buddhas. Practice, whether becoming a monk or practicing at home, should understand the truth of mind. This kind of mindfulness is the Buddha's perceptual nature. To practice, you must be alert and know all the activities of your body, mouth and heart. This is called awareness. Consciousness is introspection. Only by knowing introspection can we know and change. Not only should we be aware, but we should also be aware-stop worrying, and after worrying is stopped, we will return to consciousness. After the troubles are over, we should further settle down in reality. Reality means that Master says you are listening to Buddhism. This idea should not be in the past, present and future, clear and distinct, and it is the owner everywhere. This is who I really am. To realize this truth is to realize the Tao and the truth of the heart. If you always study hard in your heart, you will not go far or even go the wrong way. So Goodall said, "It is true to practice after enlightenment." You can practice when you are a monk or at home. Becoming a monk or staying at home depends on your wishes and karma. Some people made a vow to become a monk in their last life, promoted Buddhism, and inherited the Tathagata family business. The good roots and wisdom roots of previous lives are now in this life, so I want to become a monk. There are also some people who worked hard in the past but didn't make a wish to get married. Therefore, although they have worked hard to protect Buddhism in this life, their desire to become a monk will not change at present, or it depends on the changes in karma in this life. Karma in Buddhism is everyone's mind. Although everyone has Buddhism, Buddhism is original and equal, but it needs the inspiration and enlightenment of external karma; If there is no karma, no practice, no practice, the nature of the Buddha will never be the same. When we realize this truth, we can become monks or practice at home. Because, after enlightenment, this heart does not look like a man or a woman, nor does it look like a monk or a family member. The same is true of bodhisattvas, including bodhisattvas at home and bodhisattvas becoming monks. Bodhisattva is a practice of giving, keeping precepts, enduring humiliation, diligence, meditation and wisdom. It can be practiced at home or become a monk. However, the arhat who has proved the four fruits must be a monk. The difference between practicing at home and becoming a monk is like a professor in a university. There are full-time professors and visiting professors. Monks put all their spirit, energy and time into practice, self-interest and altruism, so becoming a monk belongs to professional practice. The householder at home has to be busy with his career, family and children ... and work hard to satisfy his own hopes, so there is no way to devote all his energy to the practice license. Even so, you can practice in your daily life. Based on the ten principles of goodness: body three, mouth four and mind three. The third body is no killing, no stealing, no adultery, the fourth mouth is no nonsense, no swearing, no nonsense, and the third meaning is no greed, no anger, no stupidity. The so-called not greedy, not don't want to, but want to get what should be within the scope of duties, absolutely don't want to get what shouldn't be; For example, fame and profit are not bad. It is important not to covet fame and fortune, but to practice all good laws with fame and fortune and really benefit the public. The true practice of Bodhisattva is to engage in all activities in the spirit of equality, respect, humility, gratitude and gratitude as stated in Buddhism. The responsibility of becoming a monk is to carry forward Buddhism and inherit the Tathagata family business. Although laymen can also promote Buddhism, they mainly protect Buddhism and the three treasures; This is the case from the past to the present, and the responsibilities of the two are different. Among the disciples of Sakyamuni Buddha, four disciples who became monks at home, such as Guanyin Bodhisattva, Manjusri Bodhisattva and Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, are now at home. However, when the Buddha died, why didn't the mantle be given to the great bodhisattva, but to the monk? Because monks represent a kind of specialization and specialization, they can see through the world, family, love, let go of everything and dedicate their lives, wisdom, wishes and time to all beings. Therefore, only by becoming a monk can we devote ourselves to cultivation. As a layman, it is difficult to give up because I have feelings for my family, relatives and friends at home, and it is really difficult to concentrate on Buddhism because I care about my career, interpersonal relationship and fame and fortune. Buddhism says, to have great compassion and great desire, the heart will be broad. Sakyamuni Buddha opened 84,000 practices, all of which were public, not only for the Buddha, but also for the monk. Therefore, you can practice them at home and at home. However, to achieve the bodhisattva realm, we must have a broad mind, and the most important thing is to get rid of all kinds of persistence, self-reliance and law enforcement. If you don't have a big mind and don't correct your persistence and habits, it will be difficult to succeed in becoming a monk or practicing. Confucianism says: "The old man is old, the old man is old, the young man is young, and the young man is young", which is very good; Buddhism goes a step further. In the Buddhist precepts, it is said that the mind should be expanded to "every man is my father and every woman is my mother". Becoming a monk is to enlarge your mind, let go of your family's affection and love, and devote yourself to a bigger family, so that all beings are relatives; That is to say, the affection and love are promoted to the four infinite hearts of "compassion and joy" and to the equality of unjust relatives. This is not just a slogan, but also to really do it and really see through it. If you don't want to, even if you are a monk, it is not easy to achieve. You have a big mind. You should know this truth whether you become a monk or practice. However, we often know but can't do it. As far as Buddhism is concerned, practice in peacetime. Yes, if you do it, you get a point. You do it very, very well, without any luck. Buddhism says that people have upper roots, middle roots and lower roots. People in the middle and lower classes focus on things, not rationality; People who take root have the right things; Up and down is a fact. If you think you are a rooted person, you should start from kindergarten, primary school, middle school, high school, university, research institute and so on. Step by step, just like learning. For example, three conversions, three conversions, and then follow the five precepts, eight official pavilions, and bodhisattva precepts, and practice precepts, precepts, wisdom, and six paramita according to the precepts, and gradually improve yourself to make your wisdom, compassion, and happiness complete. Then, we can get rid of persistence, which will naturally make our minds broad and equal. No matter whether you are practicing at home or becoming a monk, you must follow this principle to study hard and practice, in order to get benefits. If you stick to the appearance of becoming a monk or staying at home, it is not the same as Tao. What is Tao? As far as Buddhism is concerned, the highest state is Bodhi, that is, Nirvana. Confucianism also preaches the doctrine of the mean, which means "feelings are not expressed". "Unearned joys and sorrows" means that we miss the present and don't think about the past, present and future. If we miss it, we will not move. There are emotions of joys and sorrows, and this mind is moving. This is the Confucian doctrine of the mean, and Buddhism goes further. This idea is not only fixed, but also clear and definite, and can be mastered anytime and anywhere. Taoism also stresses "Tao". The Yellow Emperor asked Guang Chengzi, and Guang Chengzi said, "The subtlety of the supreme Tao; To the extreme, faint and silent. Ignore and listen, silently hold God, and the shape will be self-correcting. You must be quiet and clear, and you can live forever without working hard and shaking your essence. " He said that the avenue is very simple, and "Miaomiao" means that we can't see what we have learned. Although you can't get it, you can't see it, but you can't say you don't have a mind. Listen to this! This heart should reflect inward and inward; Eyes looking out, seeing, ears listening, hearing; The idea of seeing the good, the bad, the beautiful and the ugly, or hearing the criticism and the choice between likes and dislikes arises in my heart. Good happiness, bad troubles, habits grow relatively. The roots of the eyes are not clean, the roots of the ears are not clean, and they don't look or listen. As mentioned in Buddhist scriptures, seeing with eyes, listening with ears and smelling self-nature are the absolute Tao. Holding God silently, the shape will be self-righteous, quiet and bright; If the mind is quiet and clear, the behavior and body posture will be upright, and there will be no delusion and Jaken. Without delusion and reversal, the heart will be pure, that is to say, the heart should always live in mindfulness. This kind of meditation is useful to the body, and it contains endless treasures. Most people don't understand and don't know how to make good use of it. The truth of Buddhism is to tell us how to know our own hearts, that is, to be clear; After knowing your own mind, use it again, and take it back after using it; To be comfortable, this heart must always exist, be clear and be the master. Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism all speak this way, and the truth is the same, but Buddhism is more serious. Therefore, this road belongs to the avenue, and this avenue has no form. Tao is this mindfulness, and practice is also based on this mindfulness. As long as you are interested in Tao, whether you are a monk or at home, you should know this mindfulness, be clear-headed, not only clear-headed, but also protect this mindfulness from climbing out and get rid of the habits in your mouth and body. Becoming a monk is the identity of a monk. Walking, living, sitting and lying belong to the outside world. In addition to the outside world, there must also be mindfulness in the heart, which represents Buddhism and Tathagata: let people who have relations with Buddhism have a respectful heart. Otherwise, who will represent Tao? The basic spirit of Buddhism cannot be changed. Buddhism was introduced into China from India and spread all over the world. Because of different customs, cultures and morals in different countries, Buddhism is different in different time and space. What kind of standard is the real law? Although Buddhism is different with the changes of time, space and morality, the fundamental spirit of Buddhism can never be changed. The basic spirit of Buddhism is the five precepts, which cannot be changed. Monks should be clean in body and mind, clean in three professions, give alms, be kind, compassionate and generous, so as to be clean inside and outside and truly represent monks. Laymen are also based on the Five Commandments. Only by respecting the three treasures and protecting the dharma can Buddhism really flourish. Being a monk has boundless merits, and then in the spirit of Buddhism's compassion and equality, he is self-serving and altruistic, benefiting others and all beings in society.
