Objectively speaking, WEY is probably the only independent brand in China that has created a sense of brand characteristics and luxury. The owner's own style and configuration positioning of the exterior and interior design of its models are not behind the traditional overseas luxury brands, and the sales volume of VV6 has exceeded 10,000 for several months. However, WEY brand still has a lot to improve, such as the driving experience of VV5.
Worst driving experience
I have never carefully counted how many cars I have driven, but VV5 is definitely the one that impressed me with the driving experience. Of course, this deep impression is not positive.
First of all, at a test drive meeting, I only drove the 2020 VV5 1.5t model, and this time I only made a subjective evaluation of the 1.5T version.
Friends in the same trade have always said that this car is not easy to drive. I didn't believe it until I got started, because not long ago I tested the Haval H6 Platinum Edition and the H6 Coupe. Their smart steering feel and excellent power adjustment gave me a new understanding of the technology of Great Wall Motor. But after getting started, 10 thousand alpacas quickly ran through my heart and ran over and over again.
The VV5, H6 platinum version and H6 coupe all have 1.5T power versions, in which the maximum power of VV5 engine is 126kW, that of H6 platinum version is 124kW, and that of H6 coupe is1/0kw, all of which match the 7-speed dual clutch. VV5 has the largest parameter and the slowest running speed.
In fact, when driving at high speed, I can feel that the power of VV5 is still quite sufficient, but every time I step on the accelerator, I always feel that I have stepped on cotton. After stepping on the accelerator, the engine speed will increase rapidly, and the sound in the engine room will become louder, but the speed change needs to be nearly 1s, and the speed change is quite sudden, as if someone pushed it behind.
There is no response when you step on the accelerator at first, so you should continue to step on it deeply. When the engine speed increases to 4000 rpm, it will suddenly give you a try. This feeling is really bad. Whether you want to speed up overtaking or start and stop frequently, the vehicle can't bring the feeling of freewheeling, and even make people feel a little tired.
The problem may be the VV5 gearbox. Because this car is so comfortable, Great Wall has adopted two different ways to adjust the same gearbox. Whether it is the H6 Platinum Edition or the H6 Coupe, the acceleration response of these two cars is very timely, and the whole acceleration curve is also very linear, which is what we often say about how much power to give the throttle.
However, the experience of VV5 gearbox can be divided into two stages, the first stage is low engine speed, and the second stage is high engine speed. The gearbox is good in the first section and the second section respectively, but in the process of transition from low speed to high speed, the gearbox cannot combine the two sections, resulting in a power gap for a period of time.
This power window period often appears in the speed-up stage, such as overtaking or entering the main road from the ramp, which is also the time when most drivers need power most. Therefore, this adjustment is not only a bad driving experience, but also a certain driving safety risk.
The shifting logic of VV5 also has driving risks. In my impression, the M-block of general vehicles can enter the M manual mode by pushing the shift lever to the left or right because of the locking mechanism, but the D-block and M-block of VV5 are designed together, and the shift mode only needs to be directly hung down. If the gear is not clear, it is easy to push the gear handle from M to N, resulting in instantaneous power loss.
From a practical point of view, the average user rarely uses M gear, but the existence of this setting still has certain driving risks.
Optimal internal and external design and optimal configuration
VV5 has left me some negative driving experiences, and the rest deserve the word perfect.
The model of VV5 continues the excellent design style of WEY family, which is why I think WEY has formed its own unique luxury style. VV5' s youthful and dynamic appearance, highly reflective paint surface and excellent overall visual effect.
In terms of details, the air intake grille on the front face of 2020 VV5 is more natural than the 19 model, and the taillights have also been replaced with three-dimensional vertical light sets, which is highly recognizable. Moreover, the 20V5S decorated the 19 double-side four-outlet exhaust, hiding the real double-side single-outlet exhaust at the bottom of the rear of the car, which was full of movement.
Inside, whether it is a luxurious central control panel or a through-drawing panel, there is a simple but not simple sense of luxury, which is more lively and smart than before. But the most commendable thing is the application of internal ergonomics of VV5. The front seats are soft and wrapped, and the size is not small. Burly consumers are also comfortable to sit on.
In terms of configuration, VV5 is also sincere enough, and the configuration on the top model of 1.5T is more advanced. High-definition streaming media wide-angle rearview mirror, the pixel reaches 1280*256, and the image effect is clear; The 360-degree panoramic image has good imaging effect and accurate body position, except for the lowest vehicle type. The A-pillar of the top model has a driver monitoring system camera, which can identify the driver's facial expression and have anti-fatigue reminder. It can detect the driver's face in real time by extracting the user's facial feature points to remind you whether you need to have a rest.
Therefore, in terms of price, configuration and use of interior materials, VV5 is sincere. If it's not driving experience or power experience, I really don't like it. Maybe I will really make an "impulse consumption" for it.
Subjective viewpoint
If it is only used for daily household transportation, VV5 is a good choice. This car is really attractive enough to create a luxurious atmosphere and rich configuration, which is why everyone is always curious and looking forward to it. However, the advantages and disadvantages of VV5 are obvious. If you choose, you must make a choice. In contrast, it is obviously easier to choose a car that is slightly moderate but balanced in all aspects, which may be the reason why many young people are discouraged from it.
