Russian Alpha Special Forces was established in the 1970s. Today, this unit has about 700 people, including an elite unit of 250 people and several small teams. Alpha special forces are carefully selected from the national security organs, airborne troops, border guards and military school graduates. Besides being strong and quick-witted, they also need to pass intelligence tests. This unit has become the backbone of Russia's counter-terrorism.
At the beginning of its formation
1July, 974 14, yuri andropov, Chairman of the Soviet National Security Council, issued an order to set up a special unit within the KGB system, with the main task of fighting terrorism. The original name of this anti-terrorism commando team is Team A, which is the predecessor of the so-called "Alpha Team".
The Alpha team has taken on the heavy responsibility since its inception, so the team can be described as "one in a million" for the selected members. The first batch of Alpha team members are no more than 30 people, all of whom are young KGB officers with extraordinary skills, and they have all passed strict examinations before they can join this elite special commando team.
