Yangtze River Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritance and Development Society, referred to as "Yangtze River Intangible Cultural Heritage Society", was established in April 2009. Under the guidance of Dr. Sun Zhengguo, it was founded by Su Changhong and Liu Hui, students of Chinese Department of College of Literature of Yangtze University.
The Yangtze River Intangible Cultural Heritage Inheritance and Development Society aims to promote college students' familiarity and in-depth understanding of intangible cultural heritage, improve contemporary college students' awareness of national cultural identity, cultivate deep feelings for their hometown cultural traditions, and shoulder the heavy responsibility of inheriting and disseminating excellent intangible cultural heritage.

By holding academic lectures, exhibitions of works by folk artists, lectures on intangible knowledge, lectures by folk artists, on-the-spot investigations, home culture week, home intangible cultural exhibitions and folk art performances, the Association enables college students to understand folk culture, learn intangible knowledge and strive to become inheritors and protectors of intangible culture.
The Yangtze River Intangible Cultural Heritage Society has established its own forums on websites such as China Folklore Network and China Folklore Forum, which have been eagerly concerned by other universities and related experts and scholars. At present, Mr. Tian Zhaoyuan, doctoral supervisor of folklore major in East China Normal University, has put forward many valuable opinions on the construction of the Yangtze River Intangible Cultural Heritage Society and promised to do some consulting work to provide theoretical support for the Association.
