The old revolutionary base areas in Liaoning are mainly distributed in the mountainous areas of East and West Boxes, and are located in the base areas of anti-Japanese allied forces such as Hengren, Kuandian, Fengcheng, Xinbin, Qingyuan and Benxi. Lingyuan, Jianchang and Suizhong are located in the Nur Land Rover Mountains in the west and belong to the anti-Japanese base areas of Hebei, Jilin and Liaoning.

From the autumn of 1936, in order to prepare materials for the anti-crusade in autumn and winter, the First Route Army built a large number of secret camps in the old Liaoning area, including barracks and temporary hospital grain depots, which became the rear bases for persisting in the struggle.
In the arduous struggle, the people in the old areas of Liaoning raised the anti-Japanese army with their own milk. 1935 in the first half of the year, there were about 400 families in Gaojian, Hengren County, all of whom supported the People's Revolutionary Army.
