/kloc-in the summer of 0/966, the Cultural Revolution began. One morning in August, a group of teachers and students in a middle school in Qingdao shouted slogans such as "get rid of capitalism" and dug up Kang Youwei's tomb on the grounds of "letting the royalist leaders come out for public display", resulting in serious damage to Kang Youwei's tomb. In the afternoon, Kang Youwei's skull was put in a dump truck and pushed by teachers and students to parade around Licun Street, saying that he was the largest royalist in the country. After the parade, Kang's head was labeled, which read: "The dog head of Kang Youwei, the biggest royalist in China". Later, Kang Youwei's skull was hidden by Wang, a researcher at the Municipal Museum, in the name of "rebellion is justified", and today's tomb of Mr. Kang Youwei was created. The original tombstone was used by a unit as a bridge slab to cover the ditch, and was later taken back by the cultural relics department and stood on the east back side of the tomb.
From 1980 to 1983, the relevant municipal departments chose cemeteries in various places to prepare for Kang Youwei's re-burial. After coordination, it was chosen on the south slope of Fushan in the north of Damaidao Village. The new tomb covers an area of 1 1,000 square meters, with a cemetery perimeter of 16.4 meters and a wall height of 60 cm. The inscription "The Tomb of Mr. Kang Youwei" was written by Liu Haisu, a disciple and master of art of Kang Youwei, followed by a brief introduction of Kang Youwei's life. The monument is 222 cm high, 89 cm wide and 30 cm thick. Six cypress trees were planted behind the tomb, symbolizing the heroic spirit of the six gentlemen who were killed: Tan Sitong, Yang Rui, Liu Guangdi and Hekang Wuxu. 1985101On October 27th, the municipal government held a grand relocation ceremony for Mr. Kang Youwei's tomb in Maoling, Fushan.
