Low-priced computers in the supermarket
VIA, a semiconductor giant in Taiwan Province Province of China, has not been favored by major PC manufacturers in the x86 chip market since it acquired Cyrix and IDT processor departments many years ago.
The billboard of VIA Antai, which stands in Zhongguancun, still reminds passers-by-China people, China Core.
During the Spring Festival and May Day this year, Trust-Mart, Wang Shi Bai Li Supermarket in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou and Wei Xiang Company in Taiwan Province Province put in more than 1.888 yuan and 1.999 yuan of desktop "multi-brain boxes", the number of which was more than 1 000. These computers use VIA PC- 1000 1GHz processors. The core has mature x86 technology, digital multimedia processing capability, 3D graphics and MPEG-2 decoding, and supports 6-channel sound effects. Multi-brain box computers can run almost all the most common computing, Internet and entertainment applications, and support mainstream USB 2.0 interfaces. It is also worth mentioning that this price includes a 15 inch CRT monitor.

Loongson's embarrassment
With the support of VIA's core components such as processors, motherboards and chipsets, as well as local manufacturers' peripherals, hard disks, optical storage and other computer components, Wei Xiang, Taiwan Province Province was able to launch mature low-cost computers.
There are two biggest problems in the non-market operation of Loongson Computer. First, the software and hardware are not compatible with Microsoft and Intel; Second, the output of Loongson and its supporting Northbridge chips is too small, and the price is not really low. And the performance is slightly lower than Intel's low-priced products.
The godson in the ivory tower has not been publicly tested so far. Some insiders worry that when Loongson holds high the general banner, the internal R&D team has begun to quietly move closer to the embedded field. In addition, even if the production goes smoothly, as a commercial product, Wintel's "aristocratic temperament" marketing method is still beyond the reach of Loongson computer manufacturers.
As of 23: 00 on May 3rd1Sunday, * * 438 18 people participated in the survey of "Loongson computer will be mass-produced and listed" in Sina.com, and 80.23% of the respondents expressed their firm support for domestic Loongson computer. In the reader's comments, "Godson" was given more love and hope.
"Is the long-standing dispute between Intel and AMD a waste? Why does the United States allow two companies to use global users as experiments of their own technology, but we can't? The technology of two bombs and one satellite independently developed by China should be in line with foreign countries under the current conditions? China people make a standard and a technology themselves, and regard their country's technology industry as Koreans and Japanese! " A Sina reader sent a bold message.
