Yaohai District is a traditional industrial area in Hefei. A number of large and medium-sized industrial enterprises such as Maanshan Iron and Steel (Hefei) Company, chlor-alkali chemical industry, Shenghua Copper, Lubao Cable, Admiralty Paper and Huayuan Textile have gathered in the territory, initially forming five pillar industries, namely, iron and steel chemical industry, machinery and electrical appliances, textile and clothing, furniture and building materials and papermaking, which are important processing and manufacturing bases in the city.
When Hefei expanded, Yaohai District was always positioned as an industrial development zone, so a large number of factories and building materials markets settled here, and people from Feidong County also came to Yaohai District, so this place was much more chaotic than the urban area.
At this time, the main development direction of Hefei is the south and west. Shushan District, Administrative District and Binhu New District have all become representatives of high housing prices. In addition, when a large number of migrants settle in Hefei, they will follow the policy to choose other districts and ignore Yaohai, which is one of the reasons why Yaohai District has been developing slowly. In addition, Hefei is mainly developed in Binhu New District and Administrative District, with little investment in Yaohai District, which has gradually become the representative area of "dirty and messy" in Hefei.
The slow development of Yaohai is also its own reason. There are few projects, no main direction of their own, and the positioning has always been vague. Therefore, the development lags behind Hefei's High-tech Zone and Economic Development Zone, has no own characteristics, and the gap with the new station area is getting smaller and smaller, which makes the development of Yaohai District in trouble.
Now, Hefei has put forward the slogan of building Yaohai "East New City", and strives to build Yaohai District into a livable, ecological and modern new district, which has become a new bright spot in Hefei's urban development. I believe Yaohai will develop better in the future and become another center of Hefei.
