The emblem and mascot of the first Hengshui Lake International Marathon were officially announced on July 9, 20 12, and the work of Hengshui designer Liu Ruimin was determined as the emblem of the 20 12 Hengshui Lake International Marathon. Hu Bao, created by Guo Wenjun, a designer from Luoyang, Henan Province, became the mascot of the 20 12 Hengshui Lake International Marathon. 20 12 the first Hengshui lake international marathon was sponsored by China athletics association, Hebei provincial sports bureau and Hengshui municipal people's government. The competition includes three events: full marathon, half marathon and mini marathon. The competition attracted more than10,000 excellent marathon runners from 26 countries and regions including China, Kenya, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Britain, USA, Denmark, Netherlands and Italy. In the competition, Ugandan athlete Stephen Kipro Tich, who won the men's marathon in London Olympic Games not long ago, was specially invited to attend the starting ceremony, and shared his Olympic winning feeling and training experience with the athletes on the spot. The first match was held on September 22, 20 12.

Champion: Regsey Hailu Mekonan of Ethiopia, in 2 hours, 08 minutes and 07 seconds.

Runner-up: Marcel Julius Kiplima of Kenya.

Third place: Ethiopian Vodayo Daniel Abela.

Women's full marathon

Champion: Ethiopian Demis Etalle Mahu Kidani 2 hours, 28 minutes and 03 seconds.

Runner-up: Tora Melkam Kisho of Ethiopia

Third runner-up: Yin Yuanyuan, China The Second International Marathon Around the Lake in Hengshui Lake, Hebei Province was held. Approved by the State Sports General Administration, the event was hosted by China Athletics Association, Hebei Provincial Sports Bureau and Hengshui Municipal People's Government, and undertaken by the Athletics Management Center of Hebei Provincial Sports Bureau and Hengshui Municipal Sports Bureau. Highlight the concept of running the tournament around the lake, green and ecological, and the theme slogan is "Green Marathon, Beautiful Hengshui Lake". There are three groups in this competition: full marathon for men and women, half marathon for men and women, and 5km marathon for men and women. Compared with the first competition, it has a larger scale and more participants. More than 40 top athletes from Kenya, Ethiopia, Morocco and other 26 countries and regions and10.5 million non-professional athletes and marathon enthusiasts participated in the competition. At the competition site, CCTV Sports Channel broadcast the competition live.
