The Boy Scouts are the earliest revolutionary children's organizations in China. It was established in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Tianjin, Tangshan and other cities during the First Revolutionary Civil War. Its main members are workers, farmers' children, factory children, shop apprentices, primary school students and urban poor children.

In cities, working boy scouts follow their fathers and brothers to take part in strikes against capitalist exploitation and demonstrations against imperialism and warlords. Their slogan is: "Prepare to overthrow imperialism! Prepare to defeat the warlords! Prepare to be the master of the whole world! "

In rural areas, the boy scouts have played an active role in cracking down on local tyrants, investigating gambling and breaking superstitions.
