Hangzhou, Suzhou, Jiaxing, Wuxi, Huzhou and Wujiang in the east of China and Nanchong in the west were awarded the honorary title of "China Silk Capital" by the relevant state units. In 2003, "Silk Expo" introduced the title of "Six Silk Capitals" for the first time. At the meeting, the National Cocoon and Silk Coordination Office and China Silk Association awarded Hangzhou, Suzhou, Jiaxing, Wuxi, Huzhou and Wujiang the honorary title of "China Silk Capital". [1] On April 2, 2005, Nanchong was officially awarded the license at the China Textile and Apparel Expo, which made Nanchong one of the first "China Silk Capital" cities named by China Silk Association and the only "China Silk Capital" in central and western China.
Huzhou is known as "Silk House", "Silk Capital of China" and "Lake Silk Clothes the World". Huzhou is located on the bank of Taihu Lake, with rivers flowing freely, and has good natural conditions for planting mulberry, sericulture and reeling. Huzhou silk is famous for its excellent quality, exquisite color and rich cultural connotation. Its texture is dense, delicate, smooth and colorful. There are more than 20 kinds of silk fabrics found only in ancient literature, such as silk, silk, silk, embroidery, cotton, yarn and so on. [4]?
Huzhou silk has a long history, more than 4700 years ago. During the period of 1958, a batch of silk thread, ribbon and uncarbonized silk fabrics were unearthed in Qianshangyang, the southern suburb of Huzhou. The age of silk thread, ribbon and silk was determined by the Institute of Archaeology of China Academy of Sciences as the early Liangzhu culture more than 4,700 years ago, and it is the earliest silk fabric found and confirmed in the world. Its discovery pushed the history of Huzhou silk forward for 4700 years and became the oldest silk birthday star in the world. At the same time, its discovery overthrew the myth that Lei Zufa, the daughter of the Yellow Emperor (about 2550 BC), raised silkworms. These silks have become the treasures of Zhejiang Silk Museum. Huzhou still preserves the place names such as "Zhili" related to silk sites.
