Yu (1851~1912), the leader of the Qing anti-westernization uprising, was born in Dazu County (now Tongqiao Town, Shuangqiao District, Chongqing). I was born in poverty and practiced martial arts since I was a child. I have participated in the French Church in longshui town twice, and I was the leader of two anti-Westernization struggles. In the 16th year of Guangxu (1890), the French church was destroyed for the third time, and an obituary was issued to denounce foreign religions and capture longshui town. Later, the Qing army went to encirclement and suppression, and the uprising failed because of the disparity in strength. In the 24th year of Guangxu (1898), after being arrested and rescued, he recruited soldiers, made weapons and launched an uprising again. The uprising army grew rapidly to more than 6,000 people, and Yu was elected as the leader. The rebel army issued a campaign, putting forward slogans such as "helping the Qing Dynasty to destroy the foreign countries" and "saving the people and teaching". At the beginning of August, Yu ordered to send troops. The insurgents attacked Tong (Liang) An (Yue) in the north, Yong (Chuan) Jiang (Jin) in the south, Chongqing in the east and Neijiang in the west. Wherever he went, the church was destroyed and gained wide support from the masses. At that time, Yu Wei became famous and became an anti-foreign hero. In February of the same year, under the suppression of the Qing army, the uprising failed, and Yu surrendered and was imprisoned in Chengdu for a long time. The Xinhai Revolution broke out in 19 1 1, 19 12 years later and was released to Dazu. Soon, he was killed by Zhou Jun, the first division commander of Sichuan Army, at the south gate of Yongchuan.
