The College of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture of Southwest University was formerly the College of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture of Southwest Agricultural University.
The Department of Horticulture of Southwest Agricultural College was founded in 1950, which is one of the earliest departments established and built in Southwest University.
In July 2005, with the approval of the Ministry of Education, the former Southwest Normal University and the former Southwest Agricultural University merged to form a comprehensive university-Southwest University, which is a key construction project directly under the Ministry of Education.
