Feng Shui - Six Taboos in the Bedroom
1. Don’t make the bedroom too big
Human beings spend one-third of their time in bed. The bedroom is a place where people come home to rest and replenish energy after a hard day's work. The quality of this place will directly affect our physical and mental state the next day. If this place is not good, then we will not be able to replenish the energy we should have to face the next day's struggle. This will affect our work efficiency, and of course directly affect our career and financial fortune. So this is crucial!
There is a saying in ancient Feng Shui theory: "A house with a large number of people and few people is a dangerous house." Why is this? Selling a big house is something that many Hong Kong people dream of. Many joys and sorrows have arisen around this issue. But why is it bad to have a house that is too big?
Air conditioning theory. In fact, if we think about it carefully, the reason is very simple. Let me give you an example: For example, in a ten-square-meter house, if you install an air conditioner and start it, the room will cool down in half an hour. The air conditioner can also stop cooling for a period of time. Because the space is small, the energy is quickly saturated. In other words, the smaller the space, the less energy is required. But when you put this air conditioner in a large house of one hundred square meters, it seems powerless. Because the larger the house, the more energy it requires, so even though the air conditioner keeps cooling, the temperature of the house still cannot reach the expected target. Therefore, we need a large number of air conditioners to meet the needs of a large house.
Looking back, we humans are also energy bodies and can emit light and heat. If people are used to replace these air conditioners, the larger the house, the more energy the human body will consume. The size of the house must therefore be proportional to the number of people occupying it. That is to say, the bigger the house, the more people should live there, which is what we often call it must be popular.
A house attracts people
It is often said in Feng Shui that a house will attract people. This sentence is absolutely true. The energy emitted by the human body is what we call popularity. When a person uses so much energy to fill the space of a large house, the damage to the body can be imagined. When the body consumes more energy, it naturally weakens the body, makes you listless at work, mistakes are inevitable, your judgment deteriorates, and bad things happen one after another.
So what is the ideal area for a house? In practice, I found that the bedroom should be about 15 square meters, and it is best not to exceed 20 square meters at most. If you live in a room exceeding 20 square meters, you will not be able to give birth to a child. Maybe this is not the absolute truth, but it is true to some extent. In fact, this means that the human body consumes too much energy and reduces physical fitness, which affects fertility. If the land is not fertile, of course, no crops can be grown.
In addition, we can go to the Forbidden City in Beijing to see what the emperor's palace looked like. When we walk into the Yangxinzhai in the Forbidden City and Emperor Yongzheng's study and the bedroom behind the study, we will be surprised to find that the emperor's living place is not much larger than that of ordinary people, only more than ten square meters. The so-called dragon bed is no bigger than that of ordinary people, and when sleeping, two curtains are put down in front of the bed, so the space becomes even smaller, probably less than 10 square meters.
The emperor's bedroom is also ordinary. The Forbidden City is the largest palace in the world. It covers an area of ??720,000 square meters and has a total of 9,000 houses (980 existing palace buildings and 8,707 rooms). But why did the emperor's living quarters have to be so small? In fact, the emperor's flesh and blood body was not much better than that of ordinary people. In order to preserve physical energy and achieve health and longevity, he could only live in a small space. I also visited the top ten gardens in Suzhou and the four famous gardens in Guangdong. We also found that the bedrooms lived by these wealthy and wealthy adults were all very small, only about ten square meters. On the contrary, I have also seen many of today's nouveau riche. Their bedrooms are very stylishly decorated and large in area, some exceeding more than fifty square meters.
As a result, the body is either suffering from this disease or that disease. Taking supplements all day long ends up destroying the body. Business also plummeted.
I remember there was a boss in Hong Kong. He was not as fat, white, and bald as we imagined. He is over 1.8 meters tall, moderately fat and thin, and very strong. When I lived in Hong Kong, my health was very good and I never knew what it was like to be sick. But when he went to Shanghai to run a business, he bought a house of more than 200 square meters there. Since entering the house, his health has deteriorated. Later I got severe uremia. Whenever the weather is bad, his hands and feet become red and swollen, making him unable to move. I went to many doctors and took medicine every day, but it still didn't help. This lasted four full years. Of course, business wasn't much better. One day, a friend introduced me to help him with Feng Shui. When I arrived at the scene, I found that his bedroom violated all the six taboos I mentioned:
1. The bedroom is too big. Over twenty-five square meters.
2. The bedroom has a balcony or a low bay window.
3. All parties should be in the bathroom, and the door of the bathroom should be facing the bed.
4. There is a chandelier above the bed.
5. The foot of the bed faces the TV.
6. The bed can be accessed from three sides, that is, only the head of the bed is against the wall.
The above six points are some typical examples of Feng Shui shortcomings in modern buildings that I have summarized in my practice in recent years. Any bedroom with the above characteristics will have a very bad impact on people to varying degrees. Below I will reveal these phenomena one by one and why they will bring adverse effects to people.
2. Do not have a balcony in the bedroom window
In the previous article, I mentioned that the bedroom area should not be too large. This time I will talk about the second taboo in the bedroom - do not have a balcony in the bedroom. and low bay windows. Bedrooms with balconies and low bay windows are very popular architectural forms nowadays. It is believed that this kind of architectural structure can provide sufficient light, ventilation and bring health to the residents, and buyers are also flocking to it. Who knew that such a design would be counterproductive and have a very bad impact on the human body!
Our human body is a body full of various energies. For example: when a person is walking in the dark night, it is difficult to spot him with the naked eye. But if you use a far-infrared telescope, you can easily detect his whereabouts. This means that a person is emitting all kinds of energy and light (visible light and invisible light) all the time.
There is "qi" in the human body. As early as 3000 BC to 2000 BC, our country realized that the human body has an energy field necessary to maintain life. They called this energy field It's "Qi". It was not until 1911 that scientist Kilner saw the phenomenon of the human body's energy field through color partitions and color filters, and for the first time described the research results on the human body's energy field to the world. He believes that the distinctive "evil" along this ribbon of body is divided into three layers: the dark layer closest to the skin is a quarter-inch thick; the outer layer is two inches thick and lighter in color. One layer, the texture of this layer perpendicular to the body; and finally, an outward ring with an indistinct outer outline, about six inches thick of outer low light.
Kilner also found that the strength and color of "qi" will vary from person to person and depend on the age, gender, intelligence, health, etc. of the person being tested. Certain diseases can also show irregular arrangement of Qi spots. In the 1990s, American Guy Coggins invented body light photography. He used special photography methods to capture this energy light of the human body. Interestingly, there are obvious differences between the spectrum taken when a person is healthy and energetic and the spectrum taken when a person is tired or sick. In other words, the health of a person's body will directly affect the strength of the energy field surrounding his body. The strength of this human energy field will directly affect its protective effect on the human body. Therefore, it is very necessary for us to maintain a certain intensity of energy field in our body.
Because places where you feel comfortable are often places with better Feng Shui. But be careful not to be misled by some popular concepts and excessive pursuit of fashion. Pay attention to the moderate size (the best size for the bedroom is about 15 square meters) and the moderate light and darkness. ”
Bay windows are more lethal
A bay window with a low sill is already so lethal. Needless to say, those with balconies are even worse! In general house design, the door and balcony door are often facing each other in a line, and in modern architectural design, balcony doors are usually designed as several floor-to-ceiling glass sliding doors. In this way, the air is more diffused than a large window, and it is less likely to gather energy. Anyone with some knowledge of Feng Shui will know that the diagonal corner of the door is called the financial position on the top of the head. In fact, the reason is very simple, because neither the door nor the window in this place is facing it, so the air flow in this place is very stable. Feng Shui always pays attention to four words: hiding wind and gathering Qi. Just look for a place with relatively stable airflow and a place where energy can easily accumulate. In ancient times, residential houses were generally square and deep, and shallow and narrow houses were taboo. Our next article will discuss the shape of the bedroom.
The bedroom should not be too shallow and narrow
Modern big cities have extremely dense populations. Due to the needs of urban development, many non-locals and rural residents have entered big cities. This makes housing in big cities increasingly tense. The land is limited and every inch of land is gold. For an average person to buy a house, it may take half a lifetime or a lifetime of savings. In order to allow more people to buy houses, real estate developers have to build houses smaller and smaller. Hong Kong is particularly outstanding in this regard. In the first article, I emphasized that the bedroom should not be too big. And today I emphasize that the bedroom should not be too small! Why is this? This is related to the so-called problem of strong Qi and thin Qi in Feng Shui. Thickness of Qi, Thinness of Qi and Chemical Experiments Most of the ancient home buildings were mainly deep and long, with two advancements and three advancements. This is very scientific. What is thick qi and what is thin qi? Let's take a chemical example first: We take two vessels filled with water, one is a tall cylindrical cup and the other is a wide-mouthed saucer. We assume that their capacities are equal, fill both vessels with water, and let them sit for a while. We will find that there is not much water left in the wide-mouthed dish. But there is still a lot of water in the tall cylindrical cup. This experiment proved that the evaporation surface is directly proportional to the evaporation speed. In other words, the larger the evaporation surface, the faster the water evaporates. vice versa.
The depth of a house affects the gathering and dispersing of qi. Similarly, the shape and depth of a house will also directly affect the thickness of the qi in the house, as well as the problem of qi dispersing and gathering. A deep and long house is like that cylindrical tall cup. Since the window is not large (equivalent to the evaporation surface of the cylindrical tall cup), its airflow will be relatively stable. On the contrary, the bedroom is too shallow and narrow, and the window is relatively large, even a floor-to-ceiling glass window. Such a bedroom is bound to have thin Qi, and the "evaporation surface" is too large, which will of course cause energy to be easily lost. As the saying goes, Qi dissipates but does not gather. A house with loose Qi will cause people to be emotionally impulsive, so if they speak or do things carelessly, they can easily offend others. As the saying goes, disaster comes from the mouth, so naturally there will be more talk about right and wrong. In addition, investment and shopping mistakes are made due to emotional impulse, and the loss of money becomes an inevitable result. Therefore, Feng Shui masters often say: the house must hide the wind and gather energy. That's the point.
"Manufacturing houses, buildings create people"
Former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill once said: "Manufacturing houses, buildings create people." I don’t know why he felt this way, but it is indeed a wise saying! Houses do affect people’s behavior and psychology! When we compare the construction methods of old and new houses, we will find that people living in old houses are emotionally stable, behave conservatively, and spend frugally. Because its construction method is mainly deep and long, the windows are not large, and the light is dark. As the saying goes, Yin brings tranquility; conversely, modern houses are lofty, shallow and narrow, with large and bright windows. People living there are impulsive, open-minded, spend money like water, and even launder future money first. That is Yang movement! If you want to have money left over, of course you have to make necessary adjustments based on this situation.
The impact of room on the human body. I have a friend whose daughter is only twenty years old this year.
Although he is young, he has many problems: he often injures his hands and feet during exercise; he is not doing well in school; he also suffers from hepatitis; he has acne all over his face, and even though he has exhausted all the medicines, his face cannot be smoothed; There was also nocturia at night... I once told him that his daughter's room was not good: firstly, it had a balcony, and secondly, the room door and the balcony door were directly connected. And his daughter slept in the attic above the door. Think about it, if the wind blows directly under a person's bed, will the person sleeping on it be okay? As a friend of mine, I have always been dubious about Feng Shui. But I am very interested in history. My home is going to be renovated recently, so I was invited to give me some advice on the decoration.
I didn’t tell him anything about Feng Shui, so I turned a corner and got involved with the Forbidden City. Let’s find the answer from the emperor’s bedroom. Anyone who has ever visited the Forbidden City will find that the emperor’s bedroom is a relatively deep and long structure. The window is only open on one side, making it relatively dark. The bed is placed against the wall on three sides, instead of the swing-out bed style that we have now with three sides open. I wonder if anyone has made a comparison, which way of setting up the bed is better? I will leave this issue to the next article for further discussion.
Let’s take a look at the design of the emperor’s palace first. What are the advantages? We put up the floor plan of the emperor's palace. Have you noticed that it looks very similar to the side of a cylindrical cup? The difference is that there is an extra door on the floor plan of the bedroom. But looking down from the door, it is still no different from a cylindrical tall cup. A tall cylindrical cup can hold water because it has no other holes except the rim. There are no holes in the bedroom from the door to the back of the house. In other words, this space is like a water cup, able to "hold" stable air and light waves. This is the so-called "hiding wind and gathering qi". The feeling of tranquility and serenity I said: "What do you think of the emperor's bedroom in the Forbidden City?" He said: "I have been to the Forbidden City several times, and I always feel a very peaceful and serene feeling when walking inside. The emperor's bedroom is even more special. There is an indescribable sense of comfort." "We might as well change the door of your daughter's bedroom to the side and follow the layout of the emperor's palace. How about it?" I said. Turns out he agreed with me. More than two months have passed and the house has been decorated. The family happily moved into their new home.
Another two months later, something strange happened: since his daughter moved into the new room, the most obvious thing is that she sleeps until dawn and no longer has to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. In addition, the acne healed without treatment. Hepatitis has also improved significantly! Interpreting ancient intelligent practices in modern scientific language once again proves the power of Feng Shui.
In fact, Feng Shui is also a scientific form of home furnishing, but the ancient Chinese Feng Shui has always lacked the support and demonstration of scientific theory. I very much hope that everyone can face the reality, and I also hope that departments with scientific methods and scientific instruments can actually conduct scientific inspections and scientific demonstrations of our living space. Raise the ancient Chinese Feng Shui to the level of scientific environmental science. Let more architects and designers pay attention to planning and designing more scientific, healthy homes that are more suitable for us to live in!
