When I was in junior high school, I watched the movie "Braveheart" starring Mel Gibson. At that time, I was attracted by the "freedom" that the protagonist Wallace shouted at the end of the movie. deeply attracted. In the movie, the freedom that Wallace believed in was that the people of Scotland could live without the unreasonable control of England. For this purpose he could sacrifice his life. As I grow older, I gradually realize that freedom is not about doing whatever you want, but living a free life following inner peace.
In order to pursue this kind of free life, I think freedom in life should have three major aspects, namely physical freedom, financial freedom and spiritual freedom. Physical freedom mainly refers to having a healthy body. Only in this way can we truly enjoy life. The formation of a healthy body requires a good diet, regular work and rest, and moderate exercise. When we have a good body, we can do the things we like to our heart's content. For me, all it takes is being able to go to bed before 11pm every day, eat on time and be able to go to the gym regularly. Generally speaking, I can do the above points better during the working day from Monday to Friday. But when it comes to holidays, I often relax my control over myself. Whenever I am extremely undisciplined, I feel that time passes very quickly and makes no sense. This feeling made me feel very unfree and affected my physical and mental health.
Wealth freedom mainly refers to the ability to achieve financial income greater than expenditure, so that material desires will not exceed our disposable income and will not form debts that are difficult to pay off. Modern society is an era of money and capital. Basically, you will spend money whenever you go out. After working, I found that my salary alone was often not enough. I wanted to buy too many books, and when the seasons changed, I wanted to buy some new clothes. Many times, there would be some unexpected bills, such as party dues, Compulsory donations, traffic violation fines, etc. Therefore, in daily life, it is not enough to be frugal alone. We also need to actively explore new sources. In fact, many times we can get some extra benefits as long as we learn a little bit of financial management knowledge. To give a simple example, we can put the current deposit in the bank card into a monetary fund, so that if we invest 10,000 yuan, we will earn about one yuan a day. In modern society, only when one achieves freedom of wealth can one make full use of various conveniences, either traveling around the world or chopping wood to feed horses.
Spiritual freedom is a must for modern people, because this era is full of too much messy information. If we don’t have a sound brain and a sufficient inner world, it will be difficult to resist such a big information The age of explosion. For me, books, movies, American TV series, music and podcasts are my spiritual palace. Whenever I feel empty and powerless, reading always saves me in time and allows me to find the coordinates of life that I can aim at. A book I read recently, "River City", is such a beautiful book. The author, Peter Heisler, followed the U.S.-China Peace Volunteer Team to Fuling, a small town in Chongqing, in 1996. For him, life is not a race to get something every day. He chose to come to China solely to experience a new culture, learn a new language, and have a new life experience. Whenever I am immersed in books like Jiang Cheng, I always see my own naivety, inexplicable anxiety, and utilitarianism. Slowly, I began to check the stock market less during working hours and began to pick up hobbies like writing again. Because the author clearly shows how he used writing to clarify his thoughts and become a real writer during his two years in Fuling. Movies and American TV series are my interests that I cultivated in college and still love today. Through movies and TV series, I discovered a new life and a new world. This world is completely different from mine. This world Everyone's behavior here has a purpose or meaning. As the plot of the drama developed and conflicted, my curiosity and emotions were released to some extent.
As for music, it is often the background sound that I turn on when I have free time. Now I especially like folk songs and rhythm and blues. I can’t explain why, I just like it. Although a good song only lasts for a few minutes, I enjoyed the spiritual pleasure in these few minutes, which feels quite good. Whenever I take a walk alone at night or ride in a car out of boredom, I put on my headphones and listen to a few podcasts. It doesn’t hurt my eyes and I can learn something at the same time. In this way, I am relatively utilitarian in spirit. With the blessing of these spiritual hobbies, I feel freer in my heart.
The above is what I understand as freedom in life.
