It is said that lucky money is related to the court of the Tang Dynasty. According to Volume 26 of Zi Tongzhi Jian, when Yang Guifei gave birth, Xuanzong personally looked at it and gave her gold and silver money to wash the child. In addition to congratulating the children, the money for washing the children here has more important significance. The custom of giving money to newborns gradually spread from the court to the people, and the Song Dynasty became one of the important folk customs.
