From Sima Guang's Zi Tongzhi Jian (Volume 234)
It means that there are a lot of creatures with fertile soil, and the success of human resources is limited. If you take it in moderation, you will always be full. If you take it in excess, if you don't use it in moderation, you will often be short.
In other words, the resources created by nature are limited, and the resources for processing finished products by people are also limited. And taking time and quantity and saving time can often meet people's needs. If on the contrary, time is infinite, time is wasted, and the public resources on the earth will soon disappear.
In short, we should make rational use of human and material resources, and we should not exhaust our resources and fish. Whether it is inherent in nature or produced by people's labor, materials and resources are not inexhaustible. There is a limit to everything.
The first sentence:
This is what Emperor Taizong said, which means that whenever it comes to eating, farmers will think of their hard work in planting crops; Whenever wearing clothes, people who spin clothes will think of the hard work when spinning clothes.
Planting', which is a written term, means agricultural labor. Planting means planting. It refers to harvesting grain. "
"Every time you eat, you will read about the difficulty of farming; Every piece of clothing, then think about the hard work of spinning performance. " Educating children to cherish the fruits of labor and be grateful to the working people is the basis of cultivating children's lifelong character. Here bread contains people's conscience and kindness. It can be seen that luxury is a kind of evil, which is harmful to oneself, family and country. Every parent who loves his country, family and son has the responsibility to use his words and deeds to create a frugal pure land for his children, and the whole society has the responsibility to water the seedlings on the pure land with love, conscience and reason. "Look at the former sages and their families, they became thrifty and were defeated by luxury." Educate children to stay away from luxury, be thrifty and simple, and families and countries will prosper forever.
