As long as the car doesn’t fall over, just push it out. This is from Yang Shuicai’s famous saying.

Yang Shuicai (1924-1966) was another heroic model figure in Henan Province after Jiao Yulu. He joined the Chinese People's Liberation Army in March 1949, made major contributions once and minor contributions twice in the battle to liberate Jiangnan, and was awarded the title of "People's Meritorious Service".

In November 1950, Yang Shuicai was demobilized and returned to Shuidaoyang Village, Xuchang County. In 1952, he served as an armed member of the village agricultural committee. In 1953, he established the first mutual aid group under the leadership of Shuidaoyang. In 1955, he served as senior social deputy President, joined the party on January 31, 1956, and concurrently served as the captain of the first production team of Shuidaoyang Village. He led the masses to fight drought and plant wheat, creating the experience of "uniting the wells into one and five dragons on duty", and led the masses to work on the east and west posts. Wells and water storage ponds were dug to solve frequent drought problems.

Later, he successively served as deputy director of Guicun Management District, principal of Shuidaoyang Primary School, and deputy secretary of the Party Branch of Shuidaoyang Brigade. In order to solve the talent problem in rural areas, he founded Guicun Rural Middle School and appointed himself as the principal.

Yang Shuicai lived a frugal life and was diligent and thrifty. Most of the time I go to local or county meetings on foot. On December 4, 1966, Yang Shuicai was busy for a full 18 hours in meetings, labor, investigations, and discussions. Due to overwork, he died of illness in the small room in the nursery the next day.

On July 13, 1969, "People's Daily" published an article entitled "The Communist Fighter Who Was Not Afraid of Hardship and the Second Is Not Afraid of Death—Remembering the Glorious Deeds of Comrade Yang Shuicai, a Communist Party Member" article. On the 31st of the same month, "People's Daily" published a commentator's article with the title "Dedicated to the People", highly praising Comrade Yang Shuicai. Historical evaluation

Comrade Yang Shuicai was a national advanced model and an outstanding representative of rural grassroots party members and cadres in the 1960s and 1970s. In order to change the poverty and backwardness of his hometown, he endured the pain and led the people in his hometown to build water conservancy projects, plant trees, and build schools, until he died at his job. Now located in the Yang Shuicai Memorial Hall in Xuchang County, Henan Province, there are pictures, oil paintings, texts, carts, iron picks, earthen levels, grafting scissors and other items that Comrade Yang Shuicai had during his lifetime. The used labor tools truly and vividly reproduce the glorious life of Comrade Yang Shuicai. For many years, this place has been a red education base for party members and rural grassroots cadres.
