Dou Yanshan, formerly known as Dou, was born in Jizhou (now Jixian County, Tianjin) after the Five Dynasties. Jizhou is adjacent to Yanshan Mountain (here referred to as Little Yanshan Mountain, located in the north of Tianjin and southwest of Beijing). Therefore, later generations respectfully called Dou Yanshan.
Dou was born in a wealthy family. When he was young, he was a bad guy and oppressed the poor with his potential. When a poor family borrows food from his family, he fights small battles, big battles, small battles and large battles. Because of his immoral behavior, he is 30 years old and has no children. One night, he had a dream that his dead father said to him, "You have bad intentions, bad morals and a bad reputation. If you don't repent and turn over a new leaf, you will not only have no son for a lifetime, but also die young. " You must quickly change your way of doing good and accumulate good deeds. Only in this way can you save the will of God and turn over a new leaf. "After he woke up, he remembered his father's words one by one in the dream, and decided to do all kinds of evil and good.
A servant of Dou's family embezzled Dou's twenty-two thousand pieces of silver. Afraid that the master would find out, he wrote a letter of guarantee and tied it to his daughter's arm. The voucher says, "Sell the girl forever and pay the money." The servant ran away from home. Dou Yujun found out about it, burned the bonds written by the servant and raised the servant's daughter. When her daughter grew up, Dou prepared a dowry for her and married a happy husband.
One year, on the first day of the first month, Dou went to the temple to worship Buddha and found 200 taels of silver and 30 taels of gold. He thought it must be the lost property of the worshippers, waiting for the owner in the temple. After waiting for a long time, I saw a man crying and talking to himself. Dou Yujun asked him why he was crying. The man said, "My father was taken by kidnappers and will be executed. Finally, I borrowed it from my relatives and friends and got 200 taels of silver and 30 taels of gold. I want to redeem my father with these gold and silver. I didn't know I lost my wallet. " Dou Yujun returned all the gold and silver to his master and gave him a travelling expenses.
Dou also did many good things to help others and facilitate others, which was praised by people. Some relatives and friends have no money to buy coffins, and he pays for coffins and funerals; If there are poor children who can't get married, he will help them get married, so there will be no husband outside and no dissatisfied wife inside; For those who are too poor to live, he lends them money so that they can have capital to do business. With his help, countless poor people can make a living everywhere. He also established 40 academies, collected thousands of books, hired scholars as teachers, and paid for poor children without money.
One day, Dou had another dream, in which his father said to him, "You have done many good things over the years. Because of your great virtue, God extended your life span by three years and gave you five precious sons. They will all be very good in the future, and you can go to heaven after you die. " Since then, Dou Yujun has worked harder to cultivate his moral values. Later, his wife gave birth to five sons in succession.
Dou Yujun strictly disciplined his five sons. For example, his family ceremonies are all carried out in accordance with ancient rituals. Men don't mess around and women don't mess around. Men work hard, women work hard, live in harmony and be filial. Under his training and education, five sons have both ability and political integrity, and their manners are rigorous, and they graduated from the department one after another: the eldest son Dou Yi, the official to Shangshu; The second son, Yan Dou, graduated from Hanlin; The third son, Dou Kan, is the official; Dou Zhuo, Ren; Five sons are sinus Nuo, and the left is to make up for the vacancy. At that time, people praised them as "Dou's Five Dragons". At that time, Feng Dao, a famous person, gave a poem: "Yanshan Fight, the godson has a righteous side, an old spirit tree, and five osmanthus flowers." The idiom "Five children are admitted to the subject" also comes from this.
Dou Yujun can make his five sons live in harmony, all of them are filial to their parents and successful in their studies, which is inseparable from his educational methods, so he said, "Dou Yanshan has an upright side." What is the "just side"? The word originated from Zuo Zhuan? Three years of seclusion: "Righteousness" refers to the moral rules that one should abide by, and later refers to family education. There are no rules, Fiona Fang.
"Dou Yanshan has a just side", and the "just side" here has two meanings: on the one hand, treating children is just education, and it is impossible without good methods. A good method is strict and reasonable; On the other hand, an upright person should first correct himself, pay attention to his self-cultivation and do things that are beneficial to self-denial. Why should the younger generation have bad behavior is to set an example first, and the father's example will have a far-reaching impact on his son.
