2, anti-folding. Cooked paper, chalk paper and wax paper have changed their properties because of processing, and they are brittle and easy to break, especially chalk paper and wax paper. Once they are wrinkled, they produce a white crack that cannot be made up. Therefore, for the preservation and carrying of these papers, they can only be rolled or laid flat, and must not be wrinkled.

3, sun protection. There are ultraviolet rays and infrared rays in the sun. If the paper is irradiated for a long time, it will become brittle and yellow, and its quality and life will change. Therefore, the sun protection of paper is as important as moisture and mildew prevention.

4, moth prevention. There is a kind of insect, also called stingray, which likes to eat the paste or colloid in paper. After a long time, books will be eaten away. One of the ways to deal with catfish is to dye paper with phellodendron amurense solution. Phellodendron amurense is a traditional Chinese medicine with the functions of clearing away heat, eliminating dampness, purging fire and detoxifying, and also has the function of killing insects. Famous calligraphers in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, such as Wang Xizhi and Wang Xianzhi, often used yellow paper to write. The scroll paper preserved in Dunhuang Stone Chamber for more than 1 years was not damaged for a long time and was not eaten by insects. All of them were yellow paper dyed with Phellodendron amurense solution. The second is to soak in pepper water and use it after drying. Pepper water can kill insects and prevent paper from being eaten by moth.

Pepper is Zanthoxylum bungeanum (Sichuan pepper), which has the characteristics of hot and pungent taste, can be used for medicine, and has the effects of relieving pain and killing insects. The third is to put substances with strong smell to drive away the moth, such as some musk, papaya and wild grass. This kind of "Wan Nianhong" paper is orange paper. The orange paint on the paper contains lead oxide, and its main component is lead tetroxide, which is toxic. A small amount of it can poison the octopus to death. Therefore, the orange paint is brushed on the paper and dried in the shade to become anti-smoking paper. In addition, in a general sense, paper and books wrapped in newspapers can also be moth-proof, because ink also has a certain moth-proof effect.
