My hometown Nanjing is a modern city with a long history and charming scenery.

Nanjing has a history of 2400 years. China built its capital here in the Six Dynasties, which left many places of interest and laid a profound cultural foundation for Nanjing. Taoyedu in Jin Dynasty, Stone Town in Soochow, the city wall in Ming Dynasty, Qinhuai River, Tianwangfu of Taiping Army and the buildings in the Republic of China all show the wisdom and splendid culture of the Chinese nation.

Nanjing is located in the Yangtze River Delta, with the wide Yangtze River in the west, the beautiful and lush Purple Mountain in the east, the sparkling Xuanwu Lake in the north and the newly-built South high-speed railway station in the south. The main city of Nanjing is surrounded by a 600-year-old Ming city wall with a length of 120 miles. The crystal clear moat and the ten-mile-long Qinhuai River pass through the city. There are many high-rise buildings in the city, the subway is networked, the tunnel crossing the river, the fourth bridge crossing the Yangtze River, the high-speed rail has been opened to traffic, the airport has been expanded, and the Olympic venues are full of energy. My hometown is in Nanjing, a this beautiful city with mountains and water.

As soon as I left my house, I took a shortcut for less than five minutes and came to the foot of the famous Purple Mountain. Although it's not a list of strange peaks and rocks, I like it.

Spring has come, and the spring breeze has awakened the earth. The grass on the mountain has sprouted, and the blue mountain seems to be covered with new green clothes. These trees have pulled out soft branches and grown green leaves. The breeze is blowing slowly, and the trees are shaking gently, as if nodding to say hello to people. A few days later, the pink peach blossoms opened and looked like a rosy cloud reflecting the mountains from a distance.

In summer, trees flourish. Bundles of golden sunshine, like handfuls of swords, are inserted among leaves, weaving colorful patterns on the earth. The cicadas opened their throats and sang in unison, singing the long-awaited life.

In autumn, the grass turns yellow and the trees turn yellow. A breeze blew gently, and pieces of yellow leaves fell from the tree like butterflies. The mountain road is full of fallen leaves, so it's interesting to step on it.

In winter, some trees on the mountain wither, but the pine and cypress are still green and lovely. After a heavy snow, the whole mountain was wrapped in silver. Purple Mountain put on her white pajamas again and fell asleep.

As the saying goes, mountains and water are good places. My hometown Nanjing is such a good place, with not only the beautiful Purple Mountain, but also the charming Xuanwu Lake.

I am very lucky. My home is not only near the mountain, but also not far from the lake. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the lake.

There is a beautiful flower bed by the lake. Every time I go for a walk by the lake, I can always smell a burst of flowers. Flowers are smiling at me one after another and in clusters. In autumn, everything turns yellow. When the autumn wind blows, pieces of yellow leaves will float down from the trees, dancing like butterflies in the air. There are fallen leaves everywhere on the mountain, so it's interesting to walk on them.

In winter, it snows heavily and is covered with snow. Purple Mountain was dressed in white and silent, as if asleep.
