How can I condescend to serve those powerful people and make myself unhappy at all? It shows the poet's pride and unyielding, and of course it also shows contempt for dignitaries as their agents. He and Tao Qian's moral concept of not bending over five buckets of rice is the same strain.
Li Bai's pursuit of his grand ideal is lifelong. At this point, like Qu Yuan, Du Fu, and all the great historical figures, their life is like a passionate love, a deeply loved person, a love of life and death.
Li Bai wrote this poem in the second year after he was excluded from Chang 'an, that is, in the fourth year of Tianbao (745), when he was preparing to go south from Donglu (now southern Shandong Province) to express his feelings for his friends. The whole poem is not only about dreams, but also about reality. Clever in conception and rich in imagination, it wonderfully interweaves myths and legends with reality. This is the poet's yearning for the immortal world after repeated setbacks, and he feels that only dreams are more worthy of nostalgia; However, dreams always wake up, and once they come into contact with reality, they can only shout "Oh, how can I solemnly bow and scrape to those who are officials and people in high positions". The whole poem is full of enthusiasm, full of feelings, completely free from the constraints of form, and only a great poet like Li Bai has such a magnificent momentum.
