Fire is an important driving force of human civilization and a sacred object in the hearts of our ancestors. The torch has appeared as an important part of the sports games and has a history of more than 2,700 years. Legend has it that Mount Olympia in ancient Greece was the home of the gods. In order to commemorate Prometheus, the god of fire who stole fire for mankind, the locals held a sacrificial ceremony in front of the altar every four years. The ceremony of lighting the sacred fire in the ancient Olympic Games originated from the myth of ancient Greek humans stealing fire from heaven. In front of Zeus at Olympia, they lit the fire on the altar according to religious rituals, and then ran around the city-states with the torch, every four years. A sacrificial ceremony must be held in front of the altar. In all the ancient Olympic Games, the main venue would be lit with blazing flames. The Olympic flame is sacred and has the beautiful meaning of "light, unity, friendship, peace and justice". Coubertin first proposed the lighting of the torch for the modern Olympic movement in 1912, and proposed that lighting the torch be a necessary ceremony for the Olympic Games. Since 1936, the Olympic flame for each session has been first lit in Olympia, the birthplace of the Olympic Games. The torch is relayed by athletes to the host country, enters the main venue at the opening ceremony, and is extinguished at the closing of the Olympic Games.
In 2004, Olympic athletes of Chinese descent embarked on a trip to Athens and won 32 hard-won gold medals for our country. Look! Our Asian Storm Liu Xiang ran at a lightning-fast speed, overcame all obstacles, and went straight to the finish line to win first place. This also symbolizes that our Asia has broken out of the world and rushed into the future. Look there again, Zhang Yining used her skillful skills to add another gold medal to the country. Let’s look at a more difficult one. Guo Jingjing’s graceful diving posture won the praise of the referee. In this way, a gold medal has become our China’s bag. There are also many Olympic athletes who have used their special skills to win gold medals for our country. In addition, silver and bronze medals have also fallen into our pockets. Needless to say, China will definitely take the lead in the final total score, leaving the United States far behind to become the largest country in sports.
People cheered and praised the great achievements of the athletes: "We China are no longer the sick men of East Asia. We have broken out of Asia, broken out of the world, and rushed towards a better tomorrow!" Then! With bursts of cheers from everyone, the Athens Olympics came to a perfect end. I believe, no, I firmly believe that in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, we Chinese can be at the top of the world, and we Chinese can appear all over the world!
Four years have passed in a flash. In these four years, we must have made progress and gained something. Through unremitting efforts, our Olympic athletes will surely live up to expectations and win glory for our country again!
Our capital Beijing won the right to host the 2008 Olympic Games and took "Green Olympics" as one of its themes. The teacher said that "Green Olympics" is not only a slogan, but also a responsibility. The purpose of Beijing Green Olympics is to provide a world-class ecological city for the Olympic Games with fresh air, clean water, beautiful environment, energy and resource conservation, and citizens with good environmental ethics.
As a Chinese middle school student, a small Chinese citizen should contribute his own strength. In response to the rampant white pollution, let me start by not using disposable plastic lunch boxes and disposable chopsticks. My mother once took me to visit an environmental protection exhibition. I saw that the disposable chopsticks produced in a forest can only be used by ten small and medium-sized restaurants for one day. And how many restaurants are there in our country (not including the very small ones)? So let’s Let’s calculate how many forests are destroyed across the country in one day! And how many forests in our country can withstand such destruction by us? I want to use the knowledge I have learned to be a volunteer propagandist to promote the importance of protecting the environment among my classmates on campus.
Spring should be a good time for flowers to bloom and the sky to be blue and the water to be green, but spring in Beijing is always wrapped in raging sand and dust. Our Datong is Beijing’s barrier, and a lot of sand blows from Datong to Beijing. We must green and protect the environment of Datong, which will also bring glory, color and contribution to the Beijing Olympics. To this end, I plant trees with my father and mother every year, and also donate to the "Return Datong Clear Water and Blue Sky" campaign so that garden workers can control the sandstorm as soon as possible.
I think from now on, we must start from me, start from small things, take care of our campus, beautify our environment, take care of every plant and tree in our Datong, and let our city Just like beautifying the campus like a garden, let foreign guests come to China and feel that our air is good, the environment is good, and the people are polite, making them feel like returning to their own home when they come to Beijing.
