During the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, after Meng Zhixiang proclaimed himself emperor, he gave them a lot of generous treatment in order to reward the ministers who fought side by side with * * *.
However, these officials took this opportunity to harm the people, wantonly abuse their power and plunder the people's fat and paste. The origin of stone carvings
The inscription "The Story of the Stone" was written by Meng Chang, a master of Shu in the Five Dynasties. Song Taizong simplified the complex, extracted four sentences: "The people are well paid, the people are abusive, and heaven is hard to bully", and awarded them to counties, ordering people to put stones in front of the lobby of the yamen.
The satrap can see his word 16 to warn him to act impartially and engage in politics for the people, so it is called "Yu Ming".
Song Zhezong also presented the county with an imperial book "Shi Jieming". In the second year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty, the book "Explaining Names" written by Huang Gu was placed in various counties. After the Song Dynasty, "Shi Jieming" spread all over the country and became a famous epigram and official admonition.
In the early Qing dynasty, there was a stone tablet in front of the lobby of yamen, which was later changed to a memorial archway. Now the stone tablet is still preserved in the government office of the governor of Zhili, Baoding, Hebei Province.
