-Yan 'an University Speech Recording
Mr. Xiong Chunjin's Speech Report (V)
2005126 October
I am very happy to come to Yan 'an University, the holy land of revolution and the cradle of training national revolutionary cadres, to discuss with you the traditional moral culture of China. The time for returning to China was very tight, and I was lucky enough to catch several pilots. Because for a long time, in recent years, various provinces and localities in China have grasped several pilot projects on youth education and moral education; Including our Yulin area, we have also caught some "moral, Taoist and economic" education in primary and secondary schools. For this reason, I went to Yulin, where I reported six times in a row. Coming here, in the whole Shaanxi area, can be said to be the seventh report.
At present, China is in a critical period of economic take-off and spiritual civilization construction. National leaders attach great importance to the education of teenagers' moral and cultural level, the revival of traditional culture and the revival of the nation. This mission actually falls on us young people. Although I also came from my youth, my experience may be different from others. After more than 20 years of economic recovery and revitalization, our generation of young people have grown up. In these 20 years, our field of moral and spiritual civilization construction declined due to the influence of western civilization and entered a critical period.
If we want to revitalize our Chinese nation, our nation and our country, we must speed up the construction of spiritual civilization while the economy is soaring, so as to build a harmonious society, ensure that economic achievements are not lost and the country can develop healthily. In view of this, through my decades of research and practice, I will dedicate my experience to you for discussion.
First, explore the watershed of historical rise and fall, and reconstruct the moral root culture and scientific education model.
Our great Chinese nation can be said to be such a nation with a long history and rooted in moral culture. Before16th century, our national culture was multicultural, including Laozi's Tao Te Ching, Zhouyi and Confucianism. These three ideological pillars together constitute the root culture of our Chinese nation, in which moral culture runs through the first sixteen centuries.
However, after16th century, there appeared a new Confucianism stage in the Ming Dynasty, which excluded our precious culture for many years, especially the culture of the Virtue Classic and the Book of Changes, from our national cultural education system, leaving only one Confucian culture. Moreover, this Confucian culture is extracted from some important and valuable spiritual fields, forming a solid and rigid stereotyped culture. After the birth of stereotyped writing culture, the education of our nation has rapidly become narrow, and the fields of spiritual civilization and intellectual development have rapidly declined. It is precisely because of this historical misunderstanding that our nation has lagged behind the nations of the world since the sixteenth century.
On the contrary, China's Zhouyi culture and Laozi culture spread to Europe, which promoted Europe to obtain rich nutrition in a bottleneck area of its own development and entered a period of rapid development in modern times, but left us far behind China.
Over the years, I have traveled abroad, in Germany and Europe, and personally experienced their humanities and culture. I really deeply feel that although the excellent culture of our ancestors was abandoned by our own descendants, it nourished and nourished their national development in the whole of Europe, in the whole of Southeast Asia and in that land. Whether in the field of spiritual civilization or scientific development, it plays a decisive role in their development. They used their two magic weapons, scientific experiments and logical reasoning, repeatedly before16th century and in modern times to construct a social framework. In addition, they have absorbed our excellent traditional culture and become a new driving force for their development, which also ensures that the whole western world leaves our motherland behind.
For nearly a hundred years, we have been actively learning from the west, and the west, in turn, is vigorously learning from our ancient traditional culture. Therefore, as a scholar, I urgently feel that to really revitalize our nation, we must develop our national culture on the basis of our ancient traditional moral culture, Zhouyi culture and Confucian culture, and at the same time pay attention to absorbing the two magic weapons of western logical reasoning and repeated experiments to falsify. Only by combining them can we surpass the whole western world in this century.
If we completely abandon our moral root culture, Zhouyi culture and Confucian culture, and simply follow the westerners: learn the spiritual nutrition of our root culture from them, learn from our own excellent cultural spirit, popularize their logical reasoning and experience of trial and error, and develop our national culture, then we may still be left behind by them in the next few hundred years, and it is difficult to surpass the whole western world and in the field of humanistic construction.
In the practice of the west in recent years, I also deeply realized that our keenness and keen eyes are far less than those of westerners. Westerners have long developed intuition to expand logical thinking and experimental falsification, which are two magic weapons for scientific and social development. They are very sensitive to the outstanding parts of our national culture, actively absorb them and spare no effort to use them.
For example, before returning to China this time, I gave a speech in Germany for just four hours. One of them is an 85-year-old German woman. After listening for four hours, she said, your four hours have solved the outstanding points of China traditional culture that I can't understand after studying for nearly 48 years. This shows that although she is 85 years old, her love and research on oriental culture is often much deeper than that of us orientals. Because her questions are very sharp, pointing to some deep-seated things of our oriental culture, and she is also a scholar who has systematically practiced oriental culture for a long time. This also makes me feel urgently that we have abandoned ourselves, while foreigners are studying and practicing our ancient traditional excellent culture in depth. However, we have gradually moved away from our excellent traditional culture from generation to generation, which is dangerous to our nation.
A philosopher in the world once said: If a nation is going to perish, it can achieve its goal as long as three generations don't let them touch its traditional culture.
Therefore, in the new century, it is an urgent task for us to realize the construction of moral civilization, spiritual civilization, economic construction and scientific development, and walk in the forefront of national culture in the world.
Reviving this traditional culture is an urgent task for us at present. Because of this sense of urgency, I think our education department can be said to be the first to bear the brunt, and it has an unshirkable responsibility and shoulders this responsibility. All our students, teenagers, teenagers and even children must establish such an educational model and framework as soon as possible in order to restore the reasonable part and scientific elements in our excellent traditional culture. Make the past serve the present and make foreign things serve China. Only by truly grasping these strategies as a whole can our nation develop healthily.
For example, tracing back to our national culture, as we just mentioned-the key is to find the root of culture. Our root culture can be said to be a traditional moral and cultural system with Laozi's Tao Te Ching and Taoist thought as the main body. In this moral and cultural system, our Lao Tzu, when he went back, can be said to have summed up thousands of years of experience and knowledge recorded by human culture, sublimated this knowledge and wrote 5,000 famous sayings. These five thousand words have been circulated as classical Chinese so far, so it can be said that there are not too many words that can really be fully understood; Then, this Classic of Virtue and Taoism can be said to guide our descendants to understand the nature of the universe, Tao and virtue, and realize that "cultivating oneself is true; We should all learn Lao Tzu's moral classics in the process of repairing our homes.
Second, taking history as a mirror and reinterpreting Laozi's moral classics is the root culture of our nation.
In view of these viewpoints, we can first take Laozi's Moral Classics as the key link to discuss why Laozi's Moral Classics has become the root culture of our nation. Around the root culture, how to develop and understand the traditional excellent culture of our nation?
Westerners are much more acute than us, and their feelings about Laozi's Tao Te Ching can be said to be very famous. Historically, when Laozi's Tao Te Ching spread to Europe in the west, it was widely circulated in all countries in Europe. The 17th century itself formed the climax of China's learning from the old and Confucianism. From the end of last century to the beginning of this century, the whole western world also set off a climax of learning old learning, especially in the field of science. At the end of last century, the study of old learning really entered a brand-new stage.
16th century later, Tolstoy once said: My good mental state is attributed to reading Confucius, but mainly to Laozi (Laozi? Tao Te Ching). In other words, his mental state-good mental state-is closely related to the thoughts of Confucius and Laozi in China. From one angle, that is to say, China's thoughts of Confucius and Laozi have enriched, constructed and supplemented the spirit of a foreigner.
The famous German philosopher Nietzsche also praised Laozi ("Laozi? Tao Te Ching: "Like inexhaustible Jing Quan, full of treasures, put down the bucket and get it at your fingertips. "There will be a German thinker named karl jaspers, he said. He said that there was an axial age in ancient times. More than two thousand years ago, Confucius and Laozi appeared in China, Sakyamuni appeared in India, Socrates and Plato appeared in ancient Greece, and Jewish prophets appeared in ancient Israel. They each created a civilization, which has influenced the present two or three thousand years. As can be seen from this passage by the German thinker Jaspers, 2,500 years ago, our whole eastern world and western world, as well as Europe and Africa, formed three fields of thought, which influenced them respectively. So far, Sakyamuni, as an Indian thought, has been integrated into the traditional culture of China. The west has continued to develop to this day mainly under the ideological framework of Socrates and Plato; Moreover, in the process of developing Socrates and Plato's thoughts, they also encountered obstacles. Finally, they absorbed the thoughts of Laozi in the East, and they were able to usher in the rapid development of modern civilization.
So when I was giving lectures in other places, I made an analogy. I said: China's Laozi thought and Zhouyi thought had a long journey to the west. At this stage of16th century, they spread to Europe through merchant ships and the Silk Road, injecting infinite vitality into the thoughts of Plato and Socrates in Europe, enabling them to transcend their own yin and yang, enrich their own yin and yang, and develop their own thoughts in a hazy state.
Then, after Leibniz, a famous German philosopher and mathematician, discovered it, he invented the binary system by using "○" and "1" in Laozi's thought, making himself the father of mathematics in the world. Moreover, for the first time, he named Laozi's thoughts and Zhouyi's thoughts in the western way-dialectics.
This dialectics actually comes from our Lao Tzu! Laozi is the real father of world dialectics! At this point, if we turn to the history of European development, it is not difficult to see that since Leibniz explained the Yin and Yang thoughts of Zhouyi and Laozi's "Tao gives birth to one, two, two, three, three things, all things give birth to Yin and embrace Yang, and the spirit of neutralization thinks peace", the whole western philosophy circle has caused a new revolution.
Since Kant, he has established a famous dialectical thought with this "two" and this yin and yang; In Hegel, he established his huge philosophical system with "three"-the "three" of all things, and became a world-famous philosopher; Marx inherited and carried forward the philosophical thoughts of Leibniz, Kant and Hegel, and established his own materialist dialectics. This materialist dialectics finally returned to the East and was introduced to China in the last century, which caused great changes in modern philosophy and brought about the revolution in China. It was also in Yan 'an, the cradle of revolution, that this idea was pushed to the whole of China, and a new China was born. It can be said that Yan 'an is also a famous and important opportunity and turning point.
Then look at Laozi's philosophy. He traveled to the west and returned to China, completing the westward journey of China's modern revolution to establish a new China, and further studying western culture in their soil to explore this achievement. I also found that although Laozi's philosophical thoughts, his profound philosophical thoughts, made a journey to the West, the West failed to completely decrypt Laozi's thoughts and philosophical thoughts! In other words, westerners have not fully understood Laozi's great materialist dialectics and moral dialectics. They still stay in their category of Yin and Yang to study the whole world and the development of their philosophy and science. They did not surpass Yin and Yang on the basis of philosophy and scientific thought acquired by ancient people in China, nor were they restricted by Yin and Yang. But to interpret the whole world, human beings and society in "○" and "1".
Therefore, at the end of last century, the study of world culture and science returned to a new climax in the study of Laozi's thought, both in the scientific and philosophical circles. Including the president of the United States, can quote Laozi's famous sentence in his speech, "If you govern a big country, you can cook a little fresh." This also shows that Lao Tzu's philosophy has also entered the political circle in the United States and is being widely studied.
Especially at the end of last century, Qian Xuesen, a famous scientist, also pointed out that the scientific development of the whole world has basically entered ten major fields, and the ten major projects and scopes are independently developed, lacking a unified idea. In fact, this idea of unification has long been gathered in the thoughts of Laozi's Tao Te Ching and Zhouyi in China's excellent traditional culture, which only needs us to review, explore and study. We should complete such a link between China's traditional culture and modern culture, and a link between moral culture and the construction of modern moral civilization. It can be said that all this is in this masterpiece-that is, Laozi's moral classics, but we only need to complete the ideological leap and enter this field.
However, why should we throw away our precious cultural heritage? This is just like Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching (according to the original meaning of Lao Tzu's Tao Te Ching, the order is that moral text comes first and Taoist text comes last). In the first part of Germany's thesis, that is, at the beginning of Laozi's Tao Te Ching, he pointed out six stages of human development. These six stages, including the development of human beings in our world, have experienced the period of rule by virtue, benevolence, righteousness, courtesy and wisdom. That is, Lao Tzu said, "if you lose your virtue, you will lose your virtue and then be benevolent;" When you lose your benevolence, then your righteousness, you lose your righteousness, and then your ceremony. Husband is loyal, loyalty is faith, and the head of chaos is also. " This passage explains the six social development periods of our entire human race.
Of course, written records mainly refer to the period of benevolence, righteousness, courtesy and stupidity. Especially after we entered modern times, we have entered the period of ignorance pointed out by Laozi. He did not use "wisdom" to describe this era of mankind, but he used a "fool"-a stupid "fool". Shao Kangjie, a scholar in Song Dynasty, once pointed out that the social development of China can be divided into four stages, namely, spring, summer, autumn and winter. However, compared with Laozi's description, after studying Shao Kangjie's description of social division, I made a comparison with Laozi's moral classics and found that Laozi's enlightenment was far more profound than Shao Kangjie's explanation.
After leaving the state of ruling the country by Tao and morality and entering the future ruling state of a smart society, human beings gradually decompose our virtues, spiritual virtues, social virtues and family virtues, that is, fire, water and earth in these five elements-Jin Mu's five elements; And these five virtues-benevolence, righteousness, faithfulness, wisdom and propriety-are gradually dispersed and dispersed; So this society, as Laozi said, has entered a state of "faithfulness". In particular, trust-mutual trust, confidence in the cause and confidence in the nation will be greatly reduced. Because that era was a social period ruled by ignorance-that is, acquired wisdom and cerebral cortex thinking dominated the thinking mode. Therefore, in such a social period, due to the lack of inner light to reflect on one's inner country, there will be some wrong cognition in things judgment and cognition. In fact, it is not difficult to see from the common phenomenon of modern society that when the whole faith avalanche, new beliefs can not be established, faith in the nation can not be established, confidence in ourselves can not be established, and trust in people can not be established, then we have entered an era of ignorance. This is the mystery of a major historical development in different stages revealed by Laozi in the first chapter of his Classic of Virtue and Taoism.
Third, the scientific practice methodology of one yuan and four elements is a shortcut to revitalize the nation and return to morality.
We are now in the stage of ruling society with wisdom. At this stage, if we want to know the state of our ancestors' moral society and make people's minds have a whole leap, we must fully understand and understand how to return to these six stages. Is it a stepwise regression? Or should we grasp it as a whole and quickly return to this morality and Tao? This is an important understanding. Of course, the quickest way to return is to study the Tao Te Ching and realize that morality is the food of human spirit. We should make good use of this kind of food, let our hearts shine again, and let our study and work no longer rely solely on the wisdom of the cerebral cortex, but quickly develop the unique wisdom of our nation.
China people divide the brain function into three levels to explain: the cerebral cortex, which is like a boiled egg with a layer of clothes on its surface-the membrane, which is the cerebral cortex; The brain parenchyma is equivalent to protein area; And the core layer of the brain, equivalent to the yolk area. Moreover, the ancient Huangdi Neijing has revealed to us that there is still a system in everyone's mind and heart, that is, the spiritual system. This spiritual system supports our tangible and tangible work. For example, "the heart hides the god." Where's God? This god takes the heart as his home, that is to say, it is a dormitory, and it works in the brain.
In the brain work area, the word "heart" is divided into three hearts. You see, China's words have deep connotations, including image, number, reason and qi. China's words are created according to the principles of Zhouyi. A word "heart" divides the water into three parts, and a hook in the middle separates the water into three parts. What does this mean? In the process of your growth, each of us will form three systems in our hearts, namely, the Yin-I wisdom system, the Yang-I wisdom system, also known as the wisdom system and the true self system. These three systems, because of the "hook" formed by greed and selfishness, will separate these three families and never meet each other. It is difficult to connect them for a lifetime, and it is also difficult to return to one.
In Laozi's moral classics, what describes this phenomenon is called: "Chickens and dogs hear each other, but old men don't talk to each other." That is to say, if we don't carry out moral cultivation and practice, then the three "I" in our hearts, working in the brain, are always in a state of independent work. It is difficult for them to meet, coordinate and unify all their lives, and it is also difficult to guide us on how to study, work, survive and develop ourselves as a whole.
Therefore, if we want to achieve the great wisdom of our ancestors, we should pay attention to using morality to acquire this virtue to nourish our hearts and bodies, so that our hearts and brains can enter a state of work coordination together. It can be said that this cultural phenomenon is unique to the Chinese nation, because the West only advocates direct feelings, intuition and inspirational thinking.
For example, Edison famously said, Genius, if you want to be a genius, you need 99% sweat and 1% inspiration to be a genius. Moreover, he also stressed that this one percent inspiration is the most critical! Based on such an intuitive and inspirational thinking mode, they developed their two magic weapons of logical reasoning and experimental falsification, but we in China are different. The ancestral culture of China people created this kind of culture, that is, it opened the functions of our heart and brain at the same time, which was realized and developed by the combination of wisdom, wisdom and brain. Later we will explain it from the perspective of medical and modern scientific discoveries.
For this difference, the first thing to talk about is the influence, function and development of Laozi's Tao Te Ching and the differences between China and the West.
If we want to combine Chinese and western cultures and make the past serve the present, we must fully understand our ancestors. Without this understanding, we can't inherit it, or we may regard it as dross. Just like our May 4th Movement, it is really a movement in which dirty water is thrown out with babies. It has its positive side and good side, but it also causes the loss of the essence of national traditional culture. For example, the famous classic reading education method is unique to the East and not available in the West, but we have discarded it. The reason for this is that we will analyze it later.
Moreover, in the last hundred years, we have paid too much attention to ancestors and traditional culture, but we have not really identified diseases in different historical periods and stages in traditional culture. For example, before16th century, it was also such a traditional culture. Why can our country walk in the forefront of the world's national forest? World-famous scientists all admire that the inventions of our ancestors far surpassed the whole of Europe before16th century. Among them, there are more than 30 inventions, which are the cornerstone of the development of modern European civilization. Our ancestors did not master western logical reasoning and repeated experiments to falsify, but pushed the scientific development of the Chinese nation to the forefront of the world.
On the contrary, after16th century, we lost this advantage. What is the reason? In culture and education! Just after we separated the excellent traditional culture and respected Confucianism alone, we turned to Confucianism alone. After the emergence of this neo-Confucianism, the eight-part essay was revived, completely separating the two excellent cultures that can really enlighten people's spirit and soul. Because before16th century, our national culture education was the education of maintaining and protecting monism and four-element scientific methodology through this classic reading.
What does one yuan mean? "One" is virtue; "Yuan" is the Tao; The "four elements" are image, number, reason and qi. "Illustrate numbers and manage qi" is the content of Zhouyi; And "one yuan" is the content of Tao Te Ching. Before the Ming dynasty, it can be said that the excellent tradition was reading classics, and this tradition has been maintained. As Mr. Lu Xun wrote, in his novels, there is a description of "the sound of books is noisy" and reading classics is like a tide; But this phenomenon has disappeared since Mr. Cai Yuanpei ordered the ban on books. Moreover, since the Ming Dynasty, only the eight-part essay and the eight-part classic were recited, and the Virtue Classic and the Book of Changes were taken out, so one yuan and four elements, such an important moral spirit and spiritual cultivation method, such a scientific method of enlightening the soul with great wisdom, were eliminated from the door of education. In this way, in fact, our traditional culture is completely abandoned.
In fact, looking through a large number of historical materials and studying these records in history, we can easily find that in ancient education, especially in the stage of "cultivating honesty from an early age" and some stages of "replenishing deficiency during pregnancy", reading the moral classics, reading the Zhouyi and reading the Confucian University and Analects of Confucius have all integrated ancient educational methods. Even some parents integrate reading Huangdi Neijing into their children's education, so there is a deep physiological truth in it.
Because I am a doctor, I use both Chinese medicine and western medicine, and I have decades of clinical experience. Even today, I have not given up this European doctor. Therefore, I am deeply touched by the influence of traditional culture on the vitality of humanities. What are the advantages of our culture? What are the advantages of western culture? What are the limitations? Where is the cultural weakness of our nation? It can be said that everyone has a bottom in mind and can slowly develop it to discuss with you. In my opinion, the key reason why our tradition lost its dominant position before the sixteenth century is that it was lost in the process of our cultural development.
For example, after Zhu Yuanzhang became emperor, he wanted to imitate the civilization of the prosperous Tang Dynasty. He was very envious of Li Shimin's creation of the prosperous Tang Dynasty, which enabled countries to walk hundreds of miles without taking roads, baggage and food, and the prison was empty at night, and so on. He was very envious of the prosperous social situation. He once wanted to recognize Zhu as the ancestor, that is, to worship Zhu as the ancestor who founded Neo-Confucianism, just like in the Tang Dynasty-to worship the second child as the ancestor. As a result, after he consulted his clan and elders, the clan elders disagreed, thinking that Zhu was separated for a short time and could not be a true ancestor. If you regard him as an ancestor, it is an insult to our Zhujiajian family. In ancient times, it was about genealogy, and it was impossible to find out that he was a real ancestor in genealogy, so he refused his suggestion. But he insisted on advocating Zhu Cheng's Neo-Confucianism in national education. On this basis, the educational scheme and teaching policy of eight-part essay are limited to the whole people of Neo-Confucianism. It can be said that whether this educational policy is correct or not is related to national development and people's livelihood in the future.
However, all these excellent parts were abandoned by our own nation and spread to western Europe and the whole of Europe. For a long time, Europe has been developing its society in the mode of inspiration thinking, intuition thinking, logical reasoning and experimental falsification. Once it comes into contact with China's traditional culture, it quickly captures all the essence that can be captured. This, he is more sensitive than us orientals. I also found these characteristics from the treatment in Europe in recent years. They are much more sensitive to some special substances and natural substances than we orientals.
For example, acupuncture, when you treat a patient in China, you often need to use heavy techniques, such as tying, twisting, turning, lifting, inserting, supplementing and arranging with heavy hands, and you should use all of them; But across Europe, things are different. For patients who are exposed to acupuncture, as long as you stick the needle into his acupoints, he can get a good sense of acupuncture, and you don't need to twist, pull or interpolate, then this energy can freely enter their acupoints along the needle handle, thus achieving the purpose of regulating the balance of qi and blood in the body. The effect of this treatment is many times higher than that of our domestic treatment. Therefore, the whole westerners are very convinced and admired by China's acupuncture and are willing to accept this kind of treatment.
Once there was an Inner Mongolia TCM doctor who went to England. He mastered the modern academic theories and methods of traditional Chinese medicine at that time, and could hardly stay any longer. After he knew my name, he made dozens of phone calls to ask me. He asked me for advice: how can I really improve my medical skills there? Actually, I just pointed out a few places and acupoints on the phone. I said: in the west, if you want to open up the situation and improve the curative effect, you must seize these acupoints. Moreover, you should use the image, mathematics and qi in your traditional culture in China to cut into a mode of thinking, cut into the patient's heart and cut into the patient's body. In this way, his employer is going to fire him and send him back to China. It can be said that these instructions gave him vitality, and he quickly improved the therapeutic effect. As a result, he established himself in England, and patients kept coming. Now, he has taken all his wives to England and bought his own car and house. It can be seen that as long as you master the essence of China traditional culture, even a little, and as long as others give you advice, you will practice it. Then in that land, they accepted it quickly and the effect was particularly good.
We were born in this middle-earth world. This middle earth belongs to the spleen, and the spleen belongs to the center. Once the spleen is wet, or dry and angry, it changes its nature. We accept our traditional culture and are not as sensitive as the West. Why? The west belongs to gold, and the lung dominates the fur in the five elements, so the whole westerner's body surface feels particularly sensitive. He is much more sensitive to our oriental culture, Chinese medicine and acupuncture than we in China, and the effect is much better. In China, however, our beliefs are very weak, without the support of faith, and our spleen and soil are not sensitive, so in our country, traditional Chinese medicine is not popular. This phenomenon is actually based on the scientific methodology of monism and quaternism, and the answer can be found. That is, if we want to learn and practice traditional culture and realize the scientific principles of our traditional culture in theory, then it is not difficult for us to understand the preciousness, preciousness, inheritance and scientificity of our national culture.
The key is that we should be able to deeply trust her and analyze her, so that Laozi's morality and the basic idea of Taoist monism can be perfectly combined with the scientific analysis method in Zhouyi. Of course, some students may have studied Zhouyi, but the current research is not true strictly.
